Want to See Our Ponies RunGo to a majority of the home games. Doherty seems like a good guy and I have pulled for this turnaround but felt compelled to speak my mind:
I want to see our boys run/fastbreak/play uptempo. I think we have some very athletic and quick players that would thrive in an open court.
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunMe 2. The games are so boring and nobody wants to see a slow tempo. I want to see 65-80 pts a game
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunYes.
I have a feeling that if a change is made, the next coach will be a 180 degree change from Doherty in terms of offense, running, not pulling a kid when he makes a turnover.

You baffle me Bickle.
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunDude! How many times can you post on here about Doh's children and elderly mom? Or his wife? or pets? or whomever that might be reading it. If his kids had any compassion for their father, they might suggest a career change away from coaching basketball. Or maybe his elderly mom might have a long talk about how freaking embarrassed she was at the nursing home when all the folks were giving her a hard time for the fact that his team scored 28 points in a 40 minute basketball game with a shot clock. I mean good god man. Running the old 4 corners offense before the shot clock usually got you 20 points a game.

Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunWow. You really need to get better insults. Oh no! I used to kill animals at a young age. The tears. The agony. The shame. Still doesn't change the fact that Doh's mom has gotta be thinking that if only they had the pill when she was younger that SMU would have at least scored 40 points the other night with some spare high school coach at the helm.

Exactly. It's irrelevant. At 500k a year he'll be fine. He's been paid well, he's a great guy and will always be able to find a job. I hope it's here, just not as our HC. He'd be great as the head fundraiser for athletics.
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunYou guys need to wake up, we have no business running in the Big East. Yes, we should play a ton faster and ditch the princeton, but running in a bump n grind league won't net us many wins. Just get a great bench coach that understands pace and permits the kids to run when it makes sense. Ultimately, it's all about executing in the half court in the Big East
Re: Want to See Our Ponies Run
THIS IS COLLEGE BASKETBALL - YOU NEED RESULTS - IT'S YEAR 6 - HE HAS NOT PRODUCED. His little kiddies will be fine and not starve. Get lost pal.
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunI will be the first to admit I am not the most knowledgeable basketball fan - but wasn't this whole switch to "the Princeton" a reaction to the fact Doh's preferred tactics just weren't working and the assistants kind of forced it on the team to get some results?
I know it worked last year with Papa at the post, but seriously, there is no way a boring 1950's offense is going to sell the program. It also sounds from the people who know something about the team that "the Princeton" just doesn't match our skill set. Isn't this season (and Doh's tenure at SMU) at the point where the team and coaching staff should just screw it and go for it - whatever "it" may be? Shake It Off Moody
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunWhat we are running does not = the Princeton. What we are running is a sorry excuse for the Princeton.
Even last year it didn't look right most of the time.
Re: Want to See Our Ponies RunI agree. This "princeton offense" has never looked right, and that is because doh doesn't really know what he is doing. He would have been better off just saying they are playing more of slow deliberate offense instead of saying they are running the "princeton". Why does he have to call the offense anything? This is just more hype by the con man we have as a coach.
