SMU recruit Bernardi leads Xaverian to playoff win

Postby DavidK126 » Thu Feb 23, 2012 12:57 am

SMU recruit Brian Bernardi scored 20 points in leading his team, Xaverian, in a win over St. Francis Prep in the first round of the New York Catholic High School Athletic Association Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan Tournament. This tournament is the first stage of Xaverian's bid for a championship this season. I attended the playoff game and posted an article about it on my free, totally non-commercial high school basketball website, www.highschool-basketball.com . The article can be found at: highschool-basketball.com/2012/02/21/new-york-chsaa-brooklynqueens-aa-diocesan-playoffs-1st-round.aspx . I also posted a score-by-score summary of the game, which shows how Bernardi's clutch shooting stopped all of St. Francis Prep's second half rallies. The scoring summary can be found at: highschool-basketball.com/2012/02/21/xaverian-62-st-francis-prep-51--linescore.aspx . Again, the site is totally free and entirely non-commercial.

Thanks davidk16! I have been following Brian through the New York Post, and sometimes it's not easy to find.

Really appreciate you reaching out and finding us, David. Your website is most impressive, and shows great dedication. We are excited to get Bernardi down here to Texas!

Minor correction. SMU *SIGNEE* Bernardi leads Xaverian... He's not a recruit.

Great info. Thank you.

Thanks for the kind comments. I know that Brian has signed a letter of intent. For the purposes of my site, which is not really focused very much on the connection between high school basketball and college ball, I use the generic term "recruit".

Brian is a very good shooter, and he plays on a team with a no-nonsense coach. His team displays great discipline and teamwork, and they play in a very competitive league.

On Monday, Brian--and his teammate, 5' 6" Dillon Burns (C. W. Post recruit)--were both named 1st team all league in the CHSAA. That's quite an honor, and it is one richly deserved.
