Will any of the team will be sorry to see Doherty leave?

Postby CoxBizGrad » Sun Feb 26, 2012 10:12 am

After having a couple of confidential conversations with three of the guys ... NO! They have been unbelievably frustrated with Doherty's rants, unpredictable and explosive nature, restrictive offense, and treating them like junior high school kids. This will be an easy move for the decision makers/high dollar donors.

You're right, none of them care if he leaves, while several require it, if they are even to think about coming back

he seems like a loose cannon. I felt a little weird when he was cutting down players at the banquet in front of everyone, not to mention the same at post game pressers. Not real classy.

No need to pile on now. This change needs to be done professionally and without any personal attacks. As much as you may want to dog him, he can dog us much worse. I truly hope it is a very amicable parting of ways. Anything the players tell you does not belong on this message board.

Thanks for the insight. IMO this should have been done 2 years ago.

Doh will get a great job in media, the NBA, or on the bench as lead recruiter for a powerhouse. He's not a head coach, which sucks for him & us, but his stock isn't bottomed out. You want to dismiss the guy professionally & w/courtesy b/c he's incredibly political, pr savvy, and still has a sphere of influence. Last thing you want is that hot head crushing us at every turn, cause he can.

The older I get the more I learn, never wish ill will on anyone. It did not work out for Coach Doh at SMU. I wish him and his family well in future endeavors.

I'm sure Coach Doh did the best he could. Sadly, the best he could was an atrocity. Best of luck in the future to him though. Guy was always friendly and willing to chat on The Boulevard.
Back off Warchild seriously.
