Barring a major surprise the hire is going to be great for some people and horrible for some people.

None of it matters of course until we see the product on the court in a couple of years. There were people who thought the world ended when Paul Johnson went to Georgia Tech. There are people now who hate June.

For some reason (and it's one of the strangest phenomena I have ever witnessed), SMU has created an environment where nobody is ever happy - and I'm sure once the basketball hire is finalized it will be the same.

Totally agree Dan....right on! I am so tired of all the BS as if SO isn't working his [deleted] off just like he did to get us in the BE.....he is a damn hard worker and he has the current advise of many SMU basketball guys who will be paying the new coaches salary. WTF?.....you think this isn't being worked hard by all?

I'm sure Steve O has Option 1, 2, 3, 4, just like anyone does. You compile your targets, decide which one you like the most, test the waters, go on to 2, test the waters, go on to 3 and so forth. If we end up with choice number 1000, then so be it. I have to think there are some great coaches with great credentials that will be more than happy to tackle the challenge of coaching and recruiting for a Big East team located in one of the largest urban areas in the country. Add in our recruiting ties to Europe (track and swimming) and South America (soccer) and our name is known far and wide. The right coach with the right attitude could turn this around on a dime.
