Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penaltiesWhat a joke. There's nothing about that place that doesn't seem dirty.
SMU! SMU! SMU!
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
Baylor or NCAA? yes.
NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
What evidence is there of players being payed? None. That is really what you are implying. We had a compliance staffer tell our coaches wrong on software that converts emails to texts and that rung up a high number of issues as they were counted among impermissible texts. We also didn't log calls and other contacts as well. Sins of stupidity, not the dirty payments to players, academic fraud, or giving cars/girls/etc to get ahead that is implied by your comment and many that are out there. That compliance staffer was fired for a while now. We messed up and are getting punished for it. NCAA spent two and a half years searching the entire program for anything they could. They found no other evidence of wrongdoing. Either we are immaculately deceptive or there isn't anything. Noteworthy quote btw- Many of these violations are the result of improperly logging or not logging calls. Approximately 90 percent of the calls later deemed impermissible were either unlogged 2-3 minute voicemail messages left during a permissible calling period or calls to individuals who were parents or relatives of prospective student-athletes who were also non-scholastic (i.e. AAU) coaches to discuss a player other than their son or relative.
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
What specifically are they doing that is dirty? #HammerDown
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
BU, no one is saying that players were paid. although, common logic will say that if the athletic dept is willing to not play by rules as simple as logging calls that the NCAA guideline state should be logged, what other rules are they willing to overlook if hey find them to be inconvenient? you should be lucky the NCAA didn't take the athletic department down to the quarry some target practice. Derail the Frogs!
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penaltiesI never said I had evidence. Maybe it's my personal bias, but I just can't believe that after years of mediocrity, elite athletes in football, men's basketball and women's basketball suddenly want to live in Waco. I know, it's a school with some good departments/programs/whatever. I don't care. I just said it "seems" dirty to me. I could see a quarterback wanting to play for Coach Briles, but that would be a rare exception, and and in the case of RGIII, the ego gets involved when a lot of other schools wanted him as an athlete. But when basketball studs with an option to play at any school in the country suddenly decide they want to live in Waco, that makes me wonder, that's all.
Good point! SMU! SMU! SMU!
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
What about the dancing?
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penaltiesBaylor should be called out for what it really isl. A vacation bible school masquerading as a major university.
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
I think most of us SMU fans would give a lot to have the sports year they just had.
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penaltiesI think the non-tv factories need to stick together.
Re: NCAA accepts Baylor's self imposed penalties
The only thing I like about Baylor is RGIII. In fact, he's the only thing about that place in decades that I have liked. Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
