Re: ORSINI LEAVING???
Didn't mean it, just wondered what the process would be.
ORSINI LEAVING???
board of trustees.
Re: ORSINI LEAVING???
I guess he isn't leaving until he decides to retire.
Re: ORSINI LEAVING???He is past retirement age. He's been here for 16 years, during which the first eleven he did nothing but mislead us in terms of athletic commitment--Dopey's "The Commitment". He fired an AD that forced the university to change. He was obviously jeolous of Orsini's growing connections with "his" donors. He has had 16 years to mend the rift in our alumni and answers to no one.
He has raised alot of money and built alot of buidings and fountains, including a Plaza named for himself and annually raised tuition. But, as one person put it, hasn't the President of TCU (and Baylor to some extent) accomplished the same thing? It is really that special?
Re: ORSINI LEAVING???Yes - the job he has done for us is pretty special. This President has raised our academic standing faster then almost any school in the country - and has raised more money for SMU then TCU or Baylor (probably more then them combined).
Its not just buildings and fountains - it is all that goes with that - better faculty, higher student quality - and yes - better sports. For sure all of us contribute to that collective effort - but Turner has lead the way in every sense. Not sure how you can say he answers to no one - he answers to the board of trustees. And his bosses are happy with his job performance. would agree that in the sports department it was a slow start - but we had a lot less to work with when he got here and i think everyone hoped we had the right team - but we REALLY were out of it during the Copeland era - more then we ever knew. Orsini deserves a ton of credit for the revival, but so does Turner and more importantly the loyal alumni that fund all these "extras". My biggest fear is that key people might still not understand that we have to compromise our admissions to succeed - there is no way around that and it rears its head still around the Hilltop.
Re: ORSINI LEAVING???Agree with your comments. But, the real proof will be the quality and strength of our next AD. I just hope those that were involved in firing Orsini take responsibility to improve the position.
I am not certain that TCU hasn't matched us in funds raised--new quad, new stadium, improvement in academics and applications--of course they have further to go. As far as constant increases in tuition and the decline the Law School things aren't perfect.
ORSINI LEAVING???
Only in the minds of the Ponyfans conspiracy theorists. Not sure how the school could make it any more obvious that they have the same pathetically low standards as the rest of the NCAA.
Re: ORSINI LEAVING???Any word about where Orsini is going to land, or if we're close to hiring his replacement?
