2013 Basketball seasonIve heard conflicting reports on where our boys will be playing. Will Moody be open for games or will all be played outside campus? Ive heard:
1. All 2013 games will be played at off campus facilities while Moody is being redone. 2. Although there will be construction, SMU MBB will be at moody and the construction will not interfere with games. - I am pretty sure that Construction starts in August for Moody (which still needs a 5-10 Million dollar donation). I also know, commencement will be on the main quad instead of Moody for the graduation '13 ponies. Whats the truth? I do like the plan that most SMU games, once Moody is finished, will be on campus, and that the BIG games (Uconn / Memphis / ----?) will be at American Airlines.
Re: 2013 Basketball seasonEverything I've read is that Moody will be ready by the time Big East conference play opens up in 2013. I'm not sure where we will be playing before that time.
Word is that Larry Brown really wants to get either Villanova, UConn, or Georgetown for that initial Big East home game. What an electric atmosphere that will be (if the Big East can hold itself together that long). Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: 2013 Basketball seasonWe will be in moody. construction outside the bowl will commence in august. the day the season ends construction inside the bowl will commence - to be complete by Nov 2013. get ready for some dust.
Re: 2013 Basketball season
This is what I'm talking about, none of this wimpy stuff to play cupcakes to built confidence. Had to read this from a few posters years ago when DOH scheduled never heard of teams. Go right at the big boys. Stepping onto the court against the likes of these major programs builds confidence. Means the coach thinks we have a chance. Come join us recruits.
Re: 2013 Basketball season
Those are conference games. They are mandatory- not a choice by the coaching staff.
Re: 2013 Basketball season
Exactly. Schedule already being upgraded, but prob was too not bite off too much, cause big east wins will be tough to come by for a minute
Re: 2013 Basketball seasonnot talking about conference games. last year for example
McMurry Florida Gulf Coast Arkansas-Pine Bluff Georgia Southern SEMO Dallas Christian all Wins but final team record 13-19. so playing wimpy no name teams certainly did not build confidence. did it?

Villanova, uconn and Georgetown are all conference games so you are comparing apples and oranges.
2013 Basketball seasonFrom what I hear Moody won't be ready until conference play begins in 2013-2014 so the early seasin non-conf games will be held elsewhere. I also hear that they are pushing for a "big" BE opponent for the opening game at new Moody, which would also be our first BE conf. game. Will be pretty cool.
Re: 2013 Basketball season
I'm not talking about conference games. You are missing my point, which is under DOH his non conference schedule was weak and he still under performed. Under LB, I suspect and hope his non conference games will be more challenging. By going after stronger non conference opponents, I believe he will entice better players to enroll at SMU for the challenge. DOH's weak non conference schedule, which some supported to 'build confidence' failed, got poor results and DOH fired.
2013 Basketball seasonThere's going to be a home and home with URI over the next two years.

You quoted a sentence listing 3 conference opponents, so I apologize for not realizing you were not talking about any of them. I guess it should have been obvious that you were not referencing those conference opponents even though you listed them in the quote and said "This is what i am talking about". I am so embarrassed to have missed that. I apologize. I think everyone here knows we had a weak non-conference schedule.
