Transfering Up

Postby MustangSTATS » Thu Jul 19, 2012 8:58 am

SI has a interesting article looking at the growing trend of players transfering up:
----------------------------------------------
Up-Transfers Eligible in 2013-14 (16)
Player From To
Perris Blackwell USF Washington
Jordan Clarkson Tulsa Missouri
Gilles Dierickx Florida Int. Washington
Justin Edwards Valpo Arizona St.
Dylan Ennis Rice Villanova
Dorian Finney-Smith Virginia Tech Florida
Alandise Harris Houston Arkansas
Damontre Harris South Carolina Florida
Rodney Hood Miss. State Duke
Max Hooper Harvard St. John's
Eric McClellan Tulsa Vanderbilt
T.J. McConnell Duquesne Arizona
Nic Moore Illinois St. SMU
Rayvonte Rice Drake Illinois
Adam Smith UNC-Wilmin Virginia Tech
Matt Stainbrook Western Mich. Xavier
------------------------------------
Noticed SMU was on the benefit side of this trend but fellow CUSA teams seem to not be as lucky (Tulsa, Rice, & UH). Looks like continuous success in BB is only going to get harder

It's happening in football, too. I know that the leading tackler from the MAC last year, a kid from Akron, transferred to Arizona. I think he graduated and wanted to play for a team that could actually beat a FBS opponent.

Dude went from Mississippi State to Duke, huh?
That'll be a culture shock.....

Interesting. Sorta like they are treating the lower schools as a testing/development of skills then transferring to bigger programs. The new JUCO route if you will
