no I don't think you are saying the same thing. The premise is that whether they had 35 seconds or 12 seconds Fresno is likely going to take the last shot. The focus for SMU is to get the best shot whether it came at :12, :20 or :25 seconds. It rare that one would get a great shot at the 35 second buzzer. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is to get a shot off to have a chance to streach the lead. Wasting the entire shot clock without getting a shot really doesn't help you and in fact is exactly what Fresno is praying for. 7-12 seconds is plenty of time for a team to score.

Put the ball in the hot player's hand & you take the best shot.

Unfortunately, an injured player took our last shot scorer (that night).
