Congrats again, Eric. SMU...2nd to None
I have to think Castro would be painful to play against, and not just because he's strong enough to cave in my ribcage with a well-placed elbow. You watch the guy, and you think "I'm quicker than this guy, and I can out-jump him." You figure you can just out-athlete him to death. The guy's big and strong and doesn't even dunk. He has a great array of low-post moves that end up with pretty vanilla-looking lay-ups and drop-ins, and you end up thinking "how the hell is this guy scoring 18 points on me?" And then, to top it all off, you have to be around him on the court. He doesn't talk smack - he just plays. And he smiles - at the refs (even when they mess up a call), at his teammates, at his opponents. That, more than his ability to get 20 points with his two-inch vertical leap, would infuriate me. And every time I tried to run by him, he'd draw a charge, and then beat me on the other end with a nice pivot in the low post or leave me waving at air with a nice, solid, painfully un-flashy bounce pass to a cutting Devon Pearson. If he was quicker than, say, a dead guy, Castro could be a hell of a point guard.
Congratulations on reaching 1,000 points, Eric!
Congrats Eric! Nice to know I was there to witness it, too! Keep up the GREAT work! And I hope you recover quickly from that injury, too!
