Last Game: UTEP 89, Louisiana Tech 69

Filiberto Rivera set a UTEP record with 18 assists and also shattered Tim Hardaway's season statistical record as UTEP cruised past Louisiana Tech, 89-69, on Friday at the Don Haskins Center.

Rivera now has 184 assists this season, one more than Hardaway amassed during the 1987-88 campaign. Rivera is third in school history with 336 dimes behind Hardaway (563) and Prince Stewart (481).

With six NBA scouts watching, Rivera posted his 11th error-free game at UTEP while playing 31 minutes.

Rivera's 18 assists against Louisiana Tech on Friday tied the most by any player in the country this season.

Rivera was tied for sixth in the country in assists (7.1 apg) behind Mercer's Damitrius Coleman (8.0 apg), Connecticut's Marcus Williams (8.0 apg), Portland State's Will Funn (7.9 apg), Jacksonville State's Walker Russell (7.4 apg) and Kansas' Aaron Miles (7.4 apg).

He is a total punk but pretty darn good.

You're right - on both counts. His Deion-like showboating in Moody was bush-league. But you have to give credit where it's due - the guy can play. Hop vs. Rivera should be an interesting matchup.
