Just like Mack Brown, Coach Barnes can recruit...

Coach? That's another story. Stay close to UT, make Barnes coach the last 3 minutes, and you have a chance to win.

Everybody has injuries & grade issues this time of year, so that's no excuse against Nevada.

But tonight, in the final minutes, Barnes looked like a young Buck in the TX Hill Country on the first day of hunting season.

Congrats to Nevada, too

OK! Laugh it up everyone! Laugh it up!! We all know the only reason Nevada won this game is because Fazekas was wearing that mask. He was a totally different person. 13 boards!? He made Klotz look like a chump. I bow to the almighty Wolfpack. Also, stop talking smack about me! I was 13 for 16 yesterday in my bracket.

Yes- Injuries are an excuse. Take the point guard and the best reserve off of any team in the hunt and see what happens. UT may have brought some of that on themselves with recruiting practices but to say injuries and academic issues are not excuses, well....we sure used themfor SMU.

The mask! That's it -- the mask! (Jim Carrey made a sequel?)
I'm not here to dogpile you. But of course Fazekas made Klotz look like a chump -- he's a better player. Klotz is big -- Fazekas is damn good.

Stallion wrote:the people that don't understand the present superiority of Texas Basketball talent are really behind the times. That argument simply doesn't make sense anymore. Texas recruits have competed for Player of the Year honors in just about evey major and mid major conference in the country in just the last few years. This is the 21st Century folks not 1970.

Maybe we're splitting hairs, here, but I'll disagree. Texas has generated some fantastic players in recent years (Chris Bosh, Bracey Wright, etc., etc.) And from what I've read, there are Texas kids this year (Gerald Green, Byron Eaton, etc.) who are tremendous talents -- as good as any in the country (especially Green). But the overall talent level, I believe, is a higher out here. No, I'm not an overly loyal east coast guy -- born and raised in Texas, and I generally believe things are better in Texas. But since I've lived up here, I've seen a lot of high school games. And while the truly elite players exist in a lot of areas, the next tier of players here would be all-state guys in Texas. The top-end talent might be as good in Texas as anywhere, but the number of quality players out here (D.C., Baltimore, New York, and to a lesser degree, Philly/N.J.) is mind-numbing.

Geez-ok I'll take Ike Diogu, Lawrence Roberts, Derron Williams, Bracey Wright and Lucas ( not to mention Chris Bosh) and you go pick from the other 49 states and you tell me that you're sure that you could beat that squad in a 7 game series. Texas talent level is not only strong at the top but thick at the bottom. You are one person who is in serious need of a Rivals subscription. This point has been proven-you just need to open your eyes.

I'll bite. Dee Brown, Wayne Simien, Sean May, Chris Paul, JJ Reddick and coming off the bench, Sean Dockery, John Gilchrist, John Bryant, JR Reynolds, Rasheed McCants, Nik Caner-Medley, Hakim Warrick. Not to mention LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Texas basketball is good and getting better, but its a great big country out there. Chicago, DC, Baltimore, Norfolk, Louisville, and North Carolina, Indiana all are great places to recruit for basketball players. Georgia and Florida are coming on strong as well. Look at the rosters of the top 16 seeds in the NCAA tournament and see what percentage are from Texas and then what percentage of the starters are from Texas.

EastStang- You left out the left coast and especially the state of Washington. It has been a really strong area for the past few years.

Stallion really drinks the Texas cool aid. He has not figured out yet that most peope choose to live elsewhere and it is just mind boggling to him. Texas, when they do produce great players, has a very hard time keeping them at home because Texas has NO basketball tradition.
