I'm terrified by the thought of being terrified. Apparently, I'm also terrified of the spelling of the word terrified

I' m asking because I havent heard of any problems, so unless you know something I dont, your whole scenario seems a bit farfetched. When has this ever actually happened? When was the last time we lost a mens basketball player to grades at the semester break. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the last I remember was Kato Armstrong, that would be 24years ago. So, unless you can tellme there is an actual probllem. then no, I'm not terrified of something that never happens.

You guys are like a bunch of little kids sitting around a campfire telling ghoststories and trying to one-up each other: "Ooh, and then the evil professor with the hook on his hand, bared his fangs and gave the whole class.......HOMEWORK!!!! The poor athlete was never seen or heard from again....."

Who is this person, and why are they here?

Either ring your hands or leave sir!

I'll give you a hint. For a brief second i am in that .gif at the bottom of your post.

The .gif is pretty cool, by the way, where did you find that?

I was really hoping no one was going to take that seriously given how dumb it sounds...but that's right! all the guys who have a sense of humor left, for shame

I made the gif, took the youtube clip I found and ran it through a program online

There are difficult classes in almost every department so that if you decide to major in that discipline, you'll sooner or later have a difficult class. The only classes that ever gave me fits were premed.

Intermediate accounting I is a requisite for Cox. Intermediate accounting II is a requisite for Accounting and Financial Consulting majors only.

Accounting is easy. Debits on the left. Credits on the right. Debits equal credits. What is so hard about that?

Cox has weed out classes - intermediate accounting.

Do you even know what accounting is?

You never end a sentence in a preposition. I learned that in an accounting class.

People, please quit making excuses for athletes. Betterhalf has had a number of atletes in her classes and I always tell her that if they aren't cutting it in class to fail their lazy [deleted]. I never had a professor go out of their way to make things difficult on me at SMU. They held me to the same standards as every other student--as they should have done.

The thought that professors should make it easier on athletes is as laughable as expecting A&M and other premier teams to play their backups when they play SMU to give us a better chance to win.

Most of you purport to be staunch republicans and then take what I view as a welfare ideology for student-athletes.

I agree. The only thing is, all schools need to do this. We shouldn't be one of the few schools that make their athletes accountable.

I don't want athlete welfare, I want equal playing field in athletics. Just like in admissions

If we were treating them by the same standards as every other student, 90% of both revenues athletes, never would have been admitted to SMU. Maybe we should grade those other students by how fluid their hips are, vertical or combine numbers? Treat them the same as our athletes, and see how they stack. Some were brought to SMU for their minds, others their bodies. You can't throw them under the same academic blanket and treat it like thats fair, its not. I don't expect random frat guys to block Margus lol

The NCAA sets guidelines for admissions, so that is not really my argument. Hoopmanx you've been around enough to know that a lot of these kids are capable of succeeding academically but chose to not put in the necessary work in the classroom. During my first two years at SMU my days consisted of eating, going to class, practice/weight room, and then hours in the LEC. I busted my @$$ to be successful on the field and in the classroom. I took 42 hours my last year while Betterhalf and I had our first child. We didn't have athlete-friendly majors and I finished that last year with over a 3.5 GPA.

Kids can do both. Just because you have a 42 in. vertical or can run a 4.5 forty at 260 pounds does not mean you are stupid and incapable of succeeding in the classroom.
