What am I missing?

With a top 20 recruiting class plus some quality transfers, why is there so little "buzz" about us among the AAC fans (find it hard to say - the American). Will we be middle of the pack next year? I know little about Bball, so I need some 'splaining', Lucy.

2. Most observers are not factoring in the transfers who set out last year.

Agreed. How much attention do you think casual fans pay to smu's recruiting class, much less transfers? Ask yourself how familiar you are with any transfers that temple or cincy might have coming eligible, people coming off injuries or new recruits.

Yeah, even insider types don't know what to reasonably expect next year. Will the talent gel? Chemistry? What will be the effect of playing in Garland for a good part of your home slate? What effect will the new Moody have on the fanbase and therefore the team? So many factors.

Most Big East fans are in shock about being in the "AAC" and don't really trust SMU as a potential rival.

We are years away from creating real buzz. Even if we were to win the entire NCAA championship we would just be considered a one year wonder. The story would be more about LB than SMU. The only way SMU earns buzz if we won consistently after the LB era.

I'm ecstatic we have Nic Moore, as he's probably better than Josiah, but we'd get more press if Josiah was our PG. He'd have made Frazier our 2nd major snag, not first etc

Well, I can't wait for the hoops mags to come out, they should have a pretty good grasp of what all these new players can do, or projected to do. Will the AAC be pretty good next year? Better than the New Big East?

The average Joe is not going to give us credit for anything but wins - and lots of them. That said, i think there are signs of a buzz building. I have had MANY of my SMU friends who have never given a hoot about basketball ask about season tickets and that they hear we are about to break out. also - have had UT, TCU and especially Baylor people that are close to their respective programs who are saying they are hearing we are going to be good FAST. They notice when they lose recruits. The opening of the building will be a big buzz - and yes being able to serve beer in a club will be HUGE.

I would disagee with the thought this will take years. I think it will be very immediate once it starts becoming obvious - but it will take a run into the torunament at some point, and that might take a couple of years and sustained recuriting at the level we have seen this year. Three years into this would be a remarkeable turn-around.

Yep. 20 wins will be a major accomplishment with the schedule we have next year.
