PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — — As the coaches gathered for the American Athletic Conference meetings, Geno Auriemma offered a message.

The Big East Conference, Auriemma told his fellow coaches, did not elevate UConn's athletic programs. It was UConn that helped build the Big East into a formidable conference.
