Mick Cronin interview

Found this interesting interview with Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin. The last paragraph has a great insight about what the NBE will be missing in marketing with no football schools.

Great interview. His context is very helpful. I enjoyed these comments:

Cronin said the coaches are delighted all 90 league games will be televised by ESPN. The network has a seven-year deal with the American. Cronin believes it was important for ESPN win the television rights in order to keep the league relevant and help elevate those new members that have been absent from such wide exposure.

“The most important thing to our recruits is exposure, playing on television, play on a national stage, make the NCAA Tournament,” Cronin said. “For a school like Houston that hasn’t been on ESPN since whenever Conference USA lost that, it’s got to be big for them. You’re talking about a team that won 20 games last year—how many people know that?
