UC will make its first venture into the new American Athletic Conference at Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday against SMU (10-2) armed with the league’s leading scorer, its stingiest defense, best offensive rebounding team and second-best free-throw shooting team, all assets that figure to be valuable in close conference games.
