Alright Hoopmanx, you're right, these noobs are morons.

Nic Moore leave for the NBA after one good, not great, season?

The fact that there's even a suggestions that he bolts for the D league is even more comical

I don't think there's a tremendous difference between 5'11 and 6'1 as for a PG, ...

...probably will never be an issue at the college level.

Thanks OBF, your in depth answers are always much appreciated. It's always interesting to understand the effect physical stats have on a player's expectations.

This…exactly. Maybe he kicks around Europe or does the Vegas/D-League thing but as much as you might love him I'm inclined to think he's done after college. I'd be surprised if we didn't get two more years out of him.

Personally, and I'm nowhere near a scout and as knowledgeable as hoopmanx, but I think Nic Moore definitely has a career in the NBA ahead of him. It just ain't going to be next year.

My biggest concern on the starting roster next year, and our best opportunity to fill, is the 3 spot. I think MK holds down the 4 (and I get more and more concerned about Yanick's ability to bounce back from his injury and be a dominant rim protector). But let's say Yanick comes back strong. Then we are ok at the 5 (forget about it of course if Turner comes - the 5 becomes definitely taken care of). The 1 and 2 are good with Eman and Nic (although having a 3rd strong handler is always good . . . B Moore supposedly has good handles for a big man). But the 3 (replacing Shawn Williams) is my biggest concern.

So here we go for next year:

Guards: Nic Moore stays where he is and Eman . . . . Sterling is solid in there somewhere, too . . . maybe Sterling plays some 3 also . . . Eman essentially replaces Nick Russell and it's an upgrade although I DO think we'll miss some of Russell's defense/IQ/and senior leadership but we get a huge upgrade in talent so it's a net gain eventually next year)

Forwards: MK at power, B. Moore at backup and maybe at 3 some? and then my comments about Sterling above (Cannen backs up here as well).

Center: Yanick, Cannen

So it seems our biggest need is that "stretch 3" . . . someone who's a strong defender, has some handles and can shoot. Also need another handler.

Ideally, we'd pick up THREE in the 2014 class (2 replaces the 2 seniors Russell and Williams and 1 replaces JJ): a banger/rebounding machine, a 3 with strong defensive skills, and another handler who can shoot would be a plus.

Fun stuff to think about.

Spud Webb was tearing it up in Dallas as a high school kid when I was at SMU. There really aren't many shorter guys, no matter how talented that can make it in the NBA. Spud, Mugsy, Nate, JJ….there are always one or two but really ONLY one or two.

I have heard KF is this way...and if you don't think short point guards can make it in the NBA, Shane Larkin was a first round pick of the Mavs and isn't much bigger than Nic. I'd take Nic over him right now too. It definitely wouldn't surprise me if Markus declares early at some point.

KF shouldn't even be fantasizing about the NBA with the way his game looks right now........

Absolutely. I think he can get there but it would be a boneheaded move on his part not to play at least another year to mature (probably more). The raw talent is there, but the skills and confidence are not quite there even at this level so forget the NBA.

Agree 100%, he's got a long ways to go, but a great teacher to help him get there. I truly think he would've declared for the NBA and not gone to college if he had the choice. Coming into this year, I heard his mindset was one and done (shouldn't be a shocker to any of you).

Larkin's listed at 5'11", Nic Moore at 5'9". I'm not a hardcore NBA fan but I'd imagine giving up 2 inches plus (likely) the extra arm length isn't neglible, especially against some of the much taller PGs.

I'll save the suspense. Nic is never getting drafted. He can average 30 next year and he's not getting drafted.

Kennedy on the other hand, I think he will have a shot down the road. If he gets a full season of averaging what he's been doing when Moreira has been out, he will be just fine. NBA always needs skilled bigs.

I actually asked a friend who happens to be an NBA GM if he thought Kennedy had an NBA future after school. He said yes with a lot of work...Lots of potential.

Sounds about right, never would've guessed it midway through the season though. He's done well for himself in terms of his stock. But definitely not a threat to leave this year unless they make an Elite 8 run with Kennedy averaging 18 points and 10 boards along the way.
