Quizzed in Dallas

Postby ponyte » Wed Feb 19, 2014 2:48 pm

I travel to Dallas about every other week. Today, I have been quizzed down by my co-workers about what is going on with SMU in basketball. There is a lot of 'gee whizz I didn't know SMU was good' kinda comments.

One guy, a Louisville fan, just doesn't see how SMU can beat Louisville. He has watched games on TV and does know Moody is electric. He just doesn't think it will be a factor against Louisville.

I have been travel to Big D for about 18 months and this is the most buzz I have received about SMU athletics. Really feels good to be the big dog others are talking about.

Did he just not watch the SMU-Louisville game? That was very winnable; we pissed it away down the stretch. And that was at KFC Yum Center.

I politely (which was a major effort) pointed out that SMU was competitive in that game. Still, Louisville is the defending National Champ and SMU is nobody to this guy. If anyone as a ticketed they would like to sell, he would be interested and I would love for him to see his beloved Cardinals get creamed by the Ponies.

Louisville is really on a roll right now with 5 straight wins of over 15 points-probably average win was more like 25 points

In particular compare what they just did to Temple and Rutgers and what SMU did. Though they did have one of those at home.

Cincinnati was playing some of the best hoops in the country, until they visited Dallas.

Would LOVE to see us playing Louisville with a 23-6 record (and I do like our chances - Pitino is the best coach not named Larry Brown in the country though IMHO). One game at a time. Beat the Coogies!!! Houston is the only team that exists right now.
