It's a good conference, but doesn't stand out to me as being the best, but none of them really do. Lots of good teams out there and tons of parity

In basketball, conferences are measured based on their non-conference achievements.

The Big 12 will end up with 70% of their conference in the tournament because they had a "dream" non-conference season.

It's something the AAC must focus on going forward, especially with the loss of our top team!

In this part of the country, asking "Is the Big 12 overrated?" is like asking "Is the sky blue?" Not a knock on the question, it's a good one to ask overall... that's just my answer to whether it's overrated around these parts.

That being said, I do respect the high number of tourney-quality teams in the Big 12 this year. Would be nice to have a 6th or 7th team in the league comparable to what the Big 12 has this year.

Temple was not playing very well at the time. And it was not a home game for Temple.

Good teams have bad games; it does not make them bad teams, especially if they can still find a way to win. And SMU isn't the only good AAC team that Temple has played close.

And it's not at all fair to judge an entire conference on one bad game from one team anyway, especially when that team wins the game.

It doesn't matter. SMU Section hit it on the head. Good teams win. You beat the teams you're supposed to. Nobody is every going to look at Texas' record and say "wow, they must not be that great, they didn't beat Temple by that much." All they care about is they won. That's all that matters. This isn't college football, it's basketball and games are inherently closer if a team has any sort of semblance of talent. Syracuse got beat by BC, does that make Cuse overrated?

Without Smart, they aren't very good. With Smart, they can play with anybody.

My thoughts, too. Maybe a little overrated early, but I think they're a little underrated now. I'm curious to see how the rest of their season plays out.

Defend Smart to where he becomes a jump shooter, and he's not even very good at that

Good luck. And quite a few NBA GMs think he's pretty hard to stop.

Knew Marcus step brother, Todd Westbrook. He was 7 years behind me in high school, and played rec ball with him when I was much younger. . . And in much better shape physically. Didn't realize there was a 25 year age difference between Todd & Marcus.

Sad story about Todd. All the schools (UCLA, Kansas to name a couple) were beating down Todd's door to get him to play for them. Wound up diagnosed with cancer, and the offers disappeared. Played his senior year at Lancaster with basically one eye. Todd was part of a special team that also featured Thomas Hill from Duke (think back to the '92 game between Kentucky-Duke.) Anyhow Todd wound up with his degree, and became a high school teacher. . . Until the cancer came back, and took Todd's life in 2004 at the age of 33. . . Anyhow, here is a link to that story about Marcus & his step brother Todd. Might also explain the rage Marcus seems to show
