AAC Tourney Seedings

Postby PonyTime » Mon Feb 24, 2014 2:40 pm

Take care of business vs. UCF at home and the Memphis game seems to be rather important for seeding in the AAC tournament. A win vs. Memphis pretty much ensures matchup against HOU in out opening game.

A loss vs. Memphis ensures matchup with UCONN in opening game of AAC tournament. Tough to beat a team 3 times...

If we played Houston, we would have to beat them for the 3rd time :D

Joking... Rather play Houston in the opening round though the disparity isn't that great to me since we match up so well with UConn...

I tried to work my way through everyone's schedules over the next two weeks to see how seeding could play out and too many of the top teams play each other to say anything definitive. Only thing I could conclude is that it is very important that we finish in the top 3 and it is unlikely that we would finish first or fifth

Statistically, that's a nonsensical statement. Seeing that we've already won twice, our current chance of beating them three times this year is right about 50%, both teams being roughly equal (which we seem to be).

Let me clarify. Will be tough to beat UCONN three times.

It just hit me that if we beat Louisville at home, we will have gone through conference play without being swept by any of the other Top 5 teams in the AAC (and no one else either). I don't think very many people would have believed at the start of the year that we would have the chance to split or sweep each conference home and home by this time in the year.

So it's important to beat Memphis so we don't have to beat UCONN three times...and instead have to beat Houston three times.

Houston is nothing to sleep on, beating any team 3 times in sports is difficult. Not saying were gonna lose or anything, just saying us playing in the first round isn't going to make me sleep easy at night the way they've played us so tight this year.

We only beat Houston by 4 at Moody so we have to take them seriously if we play them again.
