We've been watching a skinny Junior college center, a midget point guard and a guy that was legitimately overweight when he arrived on campus mixed in with some freshman and guys that couldn't cut it at Big12 programs climb their way to an 18 ranking in the AP poll, that's a coaching masterpiece to me.

I'll forever have a place in my heart for this group, but let's see what happens when Larry really gets some experienced premiere athletes on the court. Our defense will suffocate people

Well said, Ollie.

When you watch the pop or brown spurs teams, it is kind of interesting to watch trends

They build a lot of depth and use it during the season. Usually start slow, then hit strides when the teams get used to the subbing.

Then, at some point in the season, the teams go through a rough patch.

All of a sudden when they get in the playoffs the team works better and the bench is significantly shortened. They also start playing matchups.

I am very interested to see if brown shortens the bench now. I bet Moore and Marcus are out there thirty minutes per game from here on out. Only spot minutes for cannen, Frazier, Manuel.

Also the reason the teams go into a funk is the same reason you hear about great point guards under pop and brown. The system requires a lot of mental strength to run. At some point less experienced players will just kind of break down and stop running the system. They won't go back to half court when pressed and don't run sets. Used to happen with Parker all the time when he was younger and now Nic is doing it.

It will be interesting to watch the adjustments going into that first round game. To see if the same typical adjustments are made or if we keep using the depth. And if they mentally reset and start working the ball into the post which has significantly decreased over the past several games

I attended the SMU-Memphis game on Saturday. Memphis played its best defense of the year (fan energy from senior day helped them). If not for Keith failing to close out on Chris Brown's 3's in the 2nd half, we might have pulled it out.

Nothing is wrong with LB. No one has outcoached him this year, including Josh Pastner.

BTW, it wasn't lost on LB that the outcome of the Memphis game was likely not going to affect conference tourney seedings. That may explain part of the issue with Markus. I hope his time in the doghouse is done.
SMU's post season ride will be on the backs of MK and NM. They need to be healthy and fresh, both in body and in mind.

We are on the bubble.

I hope all these interviews Brown has done will tip the scale in our favor. I also hope Houston wins the tournament so it masks the bad loss.

I think the interviews are actually smart. They don't take a lot of time, he says the same stuff over and over again, but it gives the media the impression that SMU has to be in the tournament. While I think we are actually a bubble team, the media has given everyone the impression that it is a given that we should be in the tournament. With the increased exposure, during selection day, I think this exposure will push us into the tournament. We have many bad losses, a horrible rpi, a soft out of conference schedule, and we are on a three game losing streak.

I have noticed our offensive post game currently sucks. We aren't able to effectively dish the ball to our bigs, making us a jump shooting team--we currently live and die by our jump shots, and we don't have enough good jump shooters. I don't understand why our bigs can't dunk the ball the majority of the time. Dunks have a higher percentage of going in than the soft layups/finger rolls the bigs loves to do.
