I'll take UNC over Illinois

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Apr 03, 2005 1:14 pm

UNC has won more decisively through the playoffs than Illinois. The 'Heels will do it again in a really great final's game.

Not so fast, my friend,

The Fighting Illini may not have the best talent on the court, but this year they have been the best TEAM on the court. Their defense and ability to move the ball with extra passes permits them to get the best shot, regardless of who takes it.

Illini will win with double digits.

:D

Since I can't stand Roy Williams and the media's constant kissing of his overrated butt, I hope you're right.

GO ILLINI!

If UNC wins, Roy will cry. Oh- I forgot, he cries when he loses too. iI'm sure he will tell all of us what a wonderful guy he is for the umpteenth time no matter who wins. I expect a very good game. Go Illini!!!!

I hate to see grown men cry, especially Illini supporters

Better tears of joy in victory than the wailing of those Illini supporters in defeat.

From their Fight Song!

"We're Loyal to you Ill-i-nois!"

Go Orange, Go Blue!

(At least Ron Zook doesn't have to change his wardrobe, just his logo.)

Bruce Weber is special by the way.

Roy Williams should send his ring to Matt Doherty for recruiting May, McCants and Felton.

Told You So. Heels kicked A**

OK, pay up people. UNC did exactly what they were supposed to do. Given the caliber of their opposition, this was a very good win, indeed.

I concede your point. The Fight in Fighting Illini was impressive but Sean May won the game.

No excuse, but Augustine only played nine minutes. What was that? Has anyone ever seen someone foul out that quick in a big game?

:(

The officiating left somethng to be desired. Augustine was getting mugged under the basket at their end with no calls, while on the other end he was getting called for doing what everyone else was doing. I think he got screwed, but May would have still won the game for UNC.

SMU oldtimers all know that Clayton "The Animal" Korver could easily foul out in 5 minutes or less.

Living here in NC can be tough at this time, as Charleston Pony well knows. Folks here act as if college bball revolves around the NC schools. unc talks of the "family," yet were quick to can a member of the family when the players he brought to the school began to cry because he was too tough on them. Makes me want to puke. Folks around here also seem to overlook the fact there is a school way out west that owns TEN titles by themselves.

That said, the game was pretty good though I agree illinois got some bad calls, but unc won because they got the illini to play out of their system, just like unc got the spartans to play out of theirs. From the start I thought unc would win as I saw this unfold.

Go Ponies!

I thought IU's horrible 1st half shooting did them in. Roy tried to pull the game out for the Illini by switching back to a man defense to let them catch up but May just wouldn't let him do it. May may have been the most dominant player in the championship game since Bill Walton. Yes- The ACC should look toward LA occasionally when they get a little full of themselves.

nice to hear what some non biased people thought of last nights game. I was in St Louis. First Final 4/national championship game for me. The atmosphere was unbelievable. It was a long ride home back to Texas for this Illini fan today. That team was special, just had no answer for Sean May.

Hoop- Glad you got to make it to a FF. It is the best event I have ever been to. I have now been to 3 (one in Indy, Denver and NO) and hope to go again someday. It is better IMHO than the Superbowl, the Indy 500, the US Open rolled into one. There is nothing like it or the great fans who follow most schools. The sportsmanship displayed by most of the schools is awesome. My dream is to see SMU there before I die.
