MAX WILLIAMS IS FULL OF --IT

Postby J.T.supporta » Sat Apr 08, 2006 1:04 am

TAKEN FROM THE DMN:

The person who jumped-started the investigation, Max Williams, said he was shocked SMU fired Tubbs.

"I figured that maybe a change would be made down the road," said Williams, a booster of the program. "But the timing of it was a shock."

In my mind, its obvious Max wanted Tubbs to get fired when he told on Tubbs. How could you not be shocked by the firing of a coach that you and your grandson wanted gone. With Tubbs still coach, little Matt would be riding the pine.

Max quit [deleted] and stop lying out your [deleted]. You know in your right mind that you wanted Tubbs out along with Matt.

It is about time Max Williams steps up and talks about what is going on.

This is what Blackstone wrote about Max Williams...

Williams was one of the last defenders of Bob Hitch, the SMU AD in the early '80s who reportedly was aware of the payments to football players that gave SMU the infamous identity it will never shake.

Williams was one of only a handful of witnesses to the scandal, including several suspended boosters, who refused to be interviewed then by the Bishops' panel that produced the damning investigative report on it all. He went on to employ Hitch after Hitch was defrocked.

To date, the BB violations mentioned in the DMN and by our administration pale in comparison to the FB violations of 20 years ago, it is not even close. Yet this same Max Williams who is silent about FB now turns in JT because something 'wasn't right' with the SMU BB program???

It doesn't add up.

Or as they say in West Texas..."Don't [deleted] on my boots and tell me its raining"

To be fair, I don't think anyone knows what Matt has to say. He's never been quoted anywhere about his feelings on the subject.

MAX WILLIAMS ADMITTED GIVING THE MONEY FOR THE BURGERS WHICH IS A FIRING OFFENSE FOR A COACH AND MUST BE BANNED AS A BOOSTER.

the first part of the quote is actually more interesting than the second part. He said he figured a change would be made down the road. What does that mean? Sounds like a man admitting that he was thinking and/or hoping Tubbs would not be the coach long term. Sounds like a passive-aggressive type with an agenda.

I dont care if he had an agenda. He donates much more than you do Hoop. And Tubbs is a [deleted] coach. Case closed!

please get a clue. thats like me saying I donate more than you (which I probably do), therefore my opinion on this matters and yours does not, case closed. Grow up. And Tubbs is a crappy coach? You determined that huh? I feel so much better about him being railroaded now.

I am whats wrong with SMU sports? Hmm.

Is it because I attented over 75% of home games this year? Or because I am a proud contributor to the Mustang Club in my first year removed from undergard? Because I support the decision to fire Tubbs (regardless of why, I feel like they must have some sort of compelling reason)? Or is it simply bc I don't agree with you JT? I would guess that my last remark hit the nail on the head. Please feel free to question my reasoning or disagree with my opinions but do not question my status as an SMU fan.

Hoop, I am certain you DO donate more than I do. My point is that wealthy alumni frequently are the ones pushing the buttons in coaching changes at schools. I am not sure if this is remotely true but if Max were throwing money at the school to buyout Tubbs contract and contribute to the contract of hiring a new coach, then yes, he will have a lot of say in who we hire/fire. That is college sports. It is a business. Anyone who does not believe that is in denial.

Railroaded? Tell me about railroaded when a coach has a winning season and runs a clean program THEN gets fired. If your record is terrible AND you have some sort of infractions then it is pretty easy to justify a firing. Now if we pulled a Nebraska and fired our coach after a 9-3 season in addition to an Alamo Bowl apperance then I would gladly join you in screaming how unjust the situation is. Unfortunately, that is not the case here.

2 years, Icon, 2 years. We ain't Nebraska, and tubbs inherited a mess to begin with.

Now I'll say it one more time. If there are MAJOR, PROVEN violations, then SMU did the right thing. SMU still has botched the handling of this and invited Blackistone and the whole world to rip us a new one.

No, it's because you support the running of the athletic department by boosters acting as de facto AD's with authority commensurate with the amount they donate. Based on that, I DO question your fandom, very seriously.
