What a great addition to the site! Eric was always one of my favorite players at SMU, in part because he seemed like such a smart player on the floor (and it's always good to see an Oklahoma 'Stang do well) -- clearly the man knows his stuff. I, for one, am glad to have him sharing his knowledge with us!

Hard to believe he's old enough to be out of college. Really just makes me feel old, more than anything. That said, it's a very good story, and I look forward to many, many more.

That guy is great. Always worked hard. I sat next to some dude at a game - he must have yelled "Castro" like 50 times in a hispanic accent...cracked me up.

Sounds like he liked Tubbs.

ATTENTION RECRUITS AND RECRUITS' PARENTS:

At SMU, athletes are students first. Example A: the great Eric Castro.

Great stuff, Eric! Looking forward to your columns.

What a great article. Waiting for him to get his "reality" lecture though.

Wasn't Castro always pretty honest and straight-forward when he was a player? That's what I seem to recall, anyway.
Having him on board is a terrific addition to PonyFans.com.

Eric the Great

Postby The Falcon » Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:49 pm

It will be another good source of information having Eric posting from time to time.

Eric - you said that you read PonyFans regularly - Do you post to the
basketball forum? Is there any reason you can't give us your posting name or do you want to keep your anonymity?

You were one of my favorite Mustangs and I was sorry when you got old and had to leave the Mustangs. What are you doing now?

Eric was always one of the hardest working players on the court and had a really good career at SMU. Great work ethic and a great person on and off the basketball court which makes him so easy to root for. Here's to hoping Doherty gets himself a few more Eric Castros here to SMU.

Castro now works for Frost Bank in Dallas, just in case he reads, but does not post on Pony Fans.
