Frank Otis aka Mook

Looks like Mook can attack the rim and has some hops....Rivals has him as a SF, but looks more like a SG to me. Also, the kid's got to be tough coming out of Oakland.

Not going to watch the video at work, but from what I understand about Otis, he is more of an undersized 4 at the next level, than anything. Not saying he can't be a decent 3, but I don't think he's got the range on his jumper to be a 2.

Not bad, definitely has some ups. Yes, the 3 is probably where he might be.

just from searching stories on him I don't think he's much of a shooter. Isn't he the one that is below .50% from the free throw line-think he is more of a hustler, rebounder and junk ball guy around the basket from what I've read. He is a big time rebounder at the high school level. Similiar to the game Willie Davis was best at when he wasn't jacking up 3s at .25%. You need those guys though.

Both he and his team are playing well. Here's blurb I've found and I've noticed he's scored 21, 17 and 21 in recent games which is above his average in a generally low scoring team. Also now ranked No. 2 in California by a Rivals site.

Ranked No. 1 in the Bay Area by The Chronicle and No. 22 nationally by USA Today, McClymonds (24-0, 7-0 OAL) has beaten four ranked opponents in its last five games: No. 4 De La Salle on Jan. 21, No. 16 Fremont in overtime on Jan. 30, No. 17 Skyline on Feb. 1, and now No. 11 Oakland (18-7, 5-2).

here's some stats as of 2/05 which doesn't include some recent good games-note the Free Throw percentage of 48%.

Looking at his stats, he’s a monster on the boards.....but as Stallion mentioned, he is atrocious at the line. That is a problem....but correctable with time in the gym. It looks like his shooting kept him from being a Pac-10 recruit. Definitely an interesting prospect. We need the athleticism

Shaq is proof FTs don't really matter.

Then again, they did invent the hack-a-shaq for that reason

If Otis was 7'2" and 330, it would be a little easier to overlook the sub 50% FT shooting.

His FT shooting does appear to have improved later in the year. Lots of turnovers tho. Maybe the double-crossover reverse spin move doesn't work every time.

Look what they did with Fall on his FTs. He went from 60% FT% to 74% this year. I imagine they can work on him to get that up. The team FT% has really improved in the conference games. On the radio, Rich said they attributed it to the Crum Center with more baskets for the guys to practice.
