to Houston. He's been bread n butter on the Dallas Mustangs this Spring, possibly Adidas' best team. Having him give a verbal to Houston, and cite the deep Texas roots of the Dickey staff, flat sucks.

Meanwhile our best recruiter is banned from the road. Speak to us, Doh!

FWIW, Stiggers may qualify, but he can't get into SMU. You think I kid.

Any info on why Geary is banned from the road? Sick of you hinting about it without sharing anything.

I have a tremendous amount of info on the topic, but very little of it is for a free board, or any board for that matter. What do you want me to say on the issue? Reggie, arguably our best recruiter, was pulled from the road for something damning? The reality is that he's off the road, and his indiscretions, if you want to call them that, are minutia that real ADs/programs take care of. Another example of the staffs having to look over their shoulder

Makes me sad to think of Stiggers & Harris in that UH backcourt. They're very beatable, but it's clear that Dickey has a plan.

I suppose I was wanting to know how long he is out, whether you think it is something that we can recover from, etc. I understand you have to be discreet though.

Given the laughable nature of why he's being punished, he shouldn't be off the road now. I have no idea when he'll be back, but I do know that Brion Raven is logging miles, and he has the same style on the trail as Geary did. I'm not predicting it, but I saw a star rise out of similar situation recently. Hope lightening strikes twice

Is it too specific to ask which branch of the University would have to account for this? Is it an athletic department decision, basketball coaching staff, or the University admin.? Just wondering where it would come from.

admin decision that AD/Staff has to enforce while due diligence occurs. It's also a joke, and another example of how great the divide is between revenues and so-called academia

Bottom line: this program has sucked, currently sucks, and will continue to suck. I don't see much hope for this program in the near future. It is a shame because the facilities are top notch. I look forward to another year of losses, poor attendance, and wait until next year talk.

nice take during July, the most important month of recruiting. We don't suck, and we're not that far from being pretty good. Our roster is alright and getting better, but the results have sucked to this point. It's not like the program is in the crapper, we just haven't broken through to the other side.

Hoping for good news from jonathan holmes. Great player that could be a game changer for this program.

I agree with Pony. While everyone is certainly frustrated with the program and the lack of results in recent years, one would think some thought would be put into their comments before making them. The program has started from a talent perspective to see some improvement. Inroads are being made for future years. Yet time in and time out I see negative comments about this program by the same 4 or 5 folks. I understand and applaud the passion about the program but let me ask this to those folks that constantly bash for example the lack of local talented players on the SMU roster. While maybe 4 or 5 folks comment to these message boards, there are many others, including potential recruits who read the boards. Why the heck would they want to come into a program with such negativity. Pony is correct, this is a very important recruiting time period. These kids and their families are gathering as much info as possible. If you all are truly wanting to see your program improve, I would suggest being a bit more mindful of the negativity. And if it is Coach Doh you want out, I get that but what is so wrong about leaving the new coach some talent to work with? This is one of a few programs I am close to and I have not seen over the years the negativity ever help bring in talented players. How about we all try something new and be a bit more supportive?

Good take, Adopted Hawk. The concept here is program. No matter what you think of the current staff, we still need the best possible players. July & August are everything w/regards to identifying and closing on kids. By the time elite camp happens, Holmes, & kids like that, will be down to the wire. A front line of Smith, Vilde and Holmes is a completely different level, from a talent perspective, then we've seen since Dements best years.

There is a time to whine and this isn't it. We need a breakthrough class and some of it must be local cause DFW '11 is disgusting.
