http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncb/columns/story?id=6260109 Doh says we have turned the corner Agreed? Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
Re: ESPN Dallas ArticleGood read...thanks
Re: ESPN Dallas Article
Well, that is going to be the expectation given some returning players, those sitting out, and the recruits coming in. Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: ESPN Dallas Articlewell written. no sugar coating. (bad OOC, attendance, expectations)
Would have really been bad if we didn't play after the CUSA tourney. Interesting that he said he wanted all programs to target locals.
Re: ESPN Dallas Articleits turned w/regards to the program overall, just have to do it on the court the next few. We can officially recruit & play good team ball. Just need a talent infusion in a big way.

I think you need at least a couple of these [20 win seasons] before you can declare you've turned a corner. I hope the end of the bench can follow through with what he's saying, and I definitely have the Expectations that they will. "This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"

Re: ESPN Dallas Articlewhen you've beat ORU, Jacksonville AND Northen Iowa, you've def turned the corner.....just sayin
![]() SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: ESPN Dallas ArticleIt looks like we have turned the corner, but I will withhold judgement until next season. If we can stay competitive with a roster full of newcomers then I think we have definitely turned the corner. Any sort of regression would cause a panic among the fan base.
Re: ESPN Dallas Articlereally a shame that Mangrum and Dia are seniors. Would have been pretty promising if those guys returned. We'll have to see how these guys gel with the system next year but Smith, Vilde, Giles seem pretty tough - we haven't had toughness in a long while. Losh has a lot of work to do, looks really lost out there.
Re: ESPN Dallas ArticleMy guess is that Losh and Clink will have trouble finding PT.
Go Ponies!!

Re: ESPN Dallas Articlestarting 5 looks like a bigtime starting 5. Frog at point, Cotton at 2, Rob at SF Leslee at PF and Vilde in the middle. On paper, that's solid.
Who is eligible among the freshmen will determine a lot of PT as well, in addition to who is in shape or not, and the redshirt picture overall. Hope we sign a big for 2012 I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: ESPN Dallas ArticleWhen the 2011-12 schedule is released, the OOC should tell us what Doherty thinks this team is capable of handling. Then it will be up to everybody to handle it.
Kneejerk reaction: CBI is reasonable as far as I'm concerned.
Re: ESPN Dallas Article
Now that I think about the full roster, I don't see either getting PT.
Re: ESPN Dallas ArticleBTW, I appreciated Orsini's candor in the story. What's even better is that the SMU name is visible in the NCAA tournament with him being at the Regional.
This was the first time I read where the school said 2010-11 was going to be it for Doherty. Good March for the school.
Re: ESPN Dallas ArticleLosh will find time, he's just a lot better than what we saw this year. Kid got massacred by the NCAA, and needed a minute to regroup. All good, just come back strong.
We're very different next year. Lots of options, but as was pointed out to me the other day, we can go w/a 6'7 line-up across the board. Exceptionally long and athletic, if we want. Manuel, Haynes, Williams, Smith, Nyakundi, maybe Jones etc. That's silly by comparison to what we could run out there this year. The princeton isn't predicated on a low post big that needs touches, so I'm actually excited to seeing the passing lanes open up for hard cutters etc. From few who can finish at the rim, to an entire team that can. Only thing you can't account for is chemistry
