Not that much at this point, prob a little over a mill cause the whole staff is guaranteed? That's what I heard, but was never sure if it made sense.. Completely agree. Doherty is a great representative for our program, though. Would be great to have him head up the basketball booster organization that needs to be started, as Doh is a great fundraiser.

But it took five years to get to 20 wins (RPI that year?) and how's year six going? Year seven's prospects? You have to weigh the financial costs of a buyout but also what direction the program is going in. Is next year's class particularly renowned?

Doh is Matt Doherty who played on the NCAA National Championship team at North Carolina. He was the last guy cut by the Cleveland Cavs. He worked as a stock broker in New York City. He always did the right things as a player and continues to be a "class act". He was the NCAA National Coach of the year while at North Carolina.

He was a assistant coach at Davidson, Kansas, ( where he recruited many future NBA players) Notre Dame,( coached NBA players) where he won 19 before leaving for North Carolina where he would recruit a team that won the NCAA National Champonship under Roy Williams. Doh lost Sean May to a broken leg during his one bad season or he would probably still be coaching there.

He then took over a troubled ( NCAA) program at Southern Methodist University where he won 20 games in his fifth season and all his players graduated or are on schedule to graduate. He will continue to work extremely hard preparing his team for each and every game. If the players don't execute and do the little things, it will be tough to get 3-4 more wins from this team as the talent level is not there. We have to hope that Poo, Doh, Hobbie, and the players help recruit good enough players NATIONWIDE that we have smart, talented enough players to get back to winning 20 games and go to post season such as last years team. Keep working young, fragile, and inexperience team and your hard work will pay off. Watch plenty of film and even film of last year's team and clips of players like Jon Killen for example.

Well, there was that, plus the player revolt. You have to remember this one, it was national news. and commentators kept bringing it up for years. Half the feam (including May) intended to transfer if Doherty remained the coach. That, combined with all the Athletic Dept. staffers and boosters that he managed to alienate during his time at his alma mater and the worst season at UNC in 50 years led to Doh being shown the door.

Where he immediately began violating the NCAA rules on practice time, and coaching supervision, the day after he arrived. He was turned in by his own players, resulting in his first NCAA probation while at SMU. Seriously, it requires a special kind of stupid to break the rules in your first week at a school that's already under investigation, with investigators on campus questioning the players. Thats just special.

This isnt secret information, the numbers get published publically, Even if you didnt count all the players who were pushed out/transferred, and only measured it by players who completed their eligibility here, your claim still wouldnt be true. So, I'm curious, where did you come up with this particular piece of misinformation. did someone tell you this, or did you make it up on your own?
