SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueTwo Complaints.
First one on SMU. No disrespect to the ladies, but I cannot believe that SMU is going to air the women's tournament game live and in its entireity on KAAM and then join the SMU men's game IN PROGRESS at the conclusion of the women's game, which means, at best, you can hear the second half of the men's game, if you are lucky (either the first women's game or the SMU women's game does not go to overtime or exceedlingly long). This game is during a work day, and streaming audio/actual radio is going to be the only option for some supporters. Hopefully the Marshall or Memphis station has free audio streaming. Totally bush league by SMU to not secure another station to air both games...OR...if you absolutely had to choose, Do the men's game live and then tape delay the women's game afterwards, like they have done in the past. Simple case of numbers. The men's game has to be live and take precedent. Second is on Conference USA. Only way to get the tournament game on the internet is through C-USA digital network, which is not included in your all access subscription. Will cost an extra 15 bucks to watch it "legally" and your Mustangs all-access does nothing for you, even though it promised all your team's scheduled events. Hopefully this will be on first row sports and won't cost us 15 bucks to this bush league leauge. Carry on! Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueWow, glad you pointed this out now, before I chucked my laptop on Wednesday. Total bush league nonsense.
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueWe really need to get our house in order before we join the Big East...in so many ways.
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush League
Sure our basketball team stinks and Doherty has 1.75 feet out the door, but still, conference tournament time gives everyone a sense of hope. SMU always seems to go out in the first round but I know that I enjoy the tournament game(s), one of my favorite times of the year involving SMU athletics. To claim we want to be Top 25 in everything we do and are on the door step of the Big East, hard to believe that we can be so inept in our athletic department that our tournament game and the most important game for SMU to date, is relegated to "some of the second half" on radio. Sure we will probably lose, but even the casual SMU fan is interested in how we do in the tournament. I sent a letter to Orsini, probably won't make a difference, but I want him to know how bush league this is. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueAt least our second round game will be on television, but this is pretty bad.
Shake It Off Moody
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueAt the risk of [deleted] off the six people that religiously follow college women's hoops, they ought to be taking a back seat to the 12 people that religiously follow the men's hoops team.
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush League"Second Round Game?" Seriously?
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush League
It is a sensitive subject and I am sure someone out there is just as passionate about women's hoops as I am for the men's hoops. Sure, both programs have a pathetic following, but you have to give the nod to the Men's team as far as carrying a game live and from start to finish. Of course a "Top 25 in everything we do school" would have both games live on the radio as well as get a local telecast of the men's first round game. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueThe women's game starts a full hour before the men's game, so if you are listening over the air, you will likley join the men's game in the first half (Men's pregame will air at halftime of the women's game).
Both games will stream audio IN THEIR ENTIRETY though SMUMustangs.com so those listening at work can listen to either game.
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush League
Excellent. I have a four hour sw training class I have to take starting at 1 on wednesday. I'll have to grab a seat in the back.
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush League
Sorry, still not acceptable. The Men's game MUST be live and in its entirety over the air, regardless of whether or not the streaming audio will be complete. Preempting the first half of the men's game on the 'over the air' broadcast in favor of the women's game in its entirety is laughable and any other major to mid major university would think I was making this up if I told it to them. Play the men's game, then do the tape delay of the women's game, just like you have done countless times in the past. For Dallas not to be able to hear the SMU men's tournament game ove the air and in its entirety is the definition of bush league. How can we get fans to care about SMU athletics if this is how little we think of them. /cheers Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueThis is another indication of how far the men's basketball program has deteriorated. Apathy abounds except for a few of us loyal fans. Some of us aren't even mad any more... that's when the program begins to lose what little fan base exists. Either way, I'll keep my streak alive of attending home games at the very least.
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush LeagueThis radio station in Memphis is broadcasting all first round games in their entirety, actually over the air:
http://www.sports56whbq.com/ Pretty sad that a Memphis station will air our game on a strong signal in its entirety and we can't even get the whole game over the air here in Dallas. Great Job SMU Athletic Department!!! You guys really had your eye's on the ball on this one, did we not want pay for an extra hour on KAAM? SID posted that we could listen to both games live and in their entirety over SMUMUSTANGS.COM.....Great! So why not do the Men's game live and anyone that wants to hear the women are welcome to go to the internet? Can we at least get an explanation on why it is being done like this? Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: SMU/C-USA Media Options are Bush League
As I stated in my earlier post, the women's game tips a FULL HOUR before the men's game is scheduled to tip. Even if the first C-USA Tournament men's game doesn't run long (which they often do), you will still likely join the SMU men's game in the first half. And again, both games will stream IN THEIR ENTIRETY on SMUMustangs where you can watch or listen to the game.
