Derrick Coleman?Caught this in a little blurb I was reading about the Lynch and Snow hiring.
"Brown also reportedly is interested in hiring former Sixer Derrick Coleman..." http://www.lostlettermen.com/5-1-2012-l ... rge-lynch/
Re: Derrick Coleman? No idea where he would fit.
Re: Derrick Coleman?Former NBA player from the east coast. Let's hire him.

Re: Derrick Coleman? As I recall Derrick was a bit of a head case and prima donna during most of his career. Very talented, but was not a great work out player and periodically did not show up in games. When he was motivated he was one of the best with awesome physical strength and bulk size. I am not sure where he would fit in as a coach if he still has many of his old personality and dedication issues.
Re: Derrick Coleman?will our team get sponsored by Brittish Knights???
Re: Derrick Coleman?![]() Rocking those BKs!!!
Re: Derrick Coleman?Few have done less with more like Coleman. I don't know what kind of person he is, but as a player, he made the least of his ample talent. Is that the kind of person who should be teaching young players? Besides, are there any spots still open?
Re: Derrick Coleman? From the always credible, Wikipedia: " In March 2010, Coleman declared for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, owing an estimated $2.19 million to between 50 and 99 different creditors"
Maybe he's looking for anything that will bring in some cash. Besides, is there a limit to how many coaches/back office jobs you can have? When I was working in the basketball office we would have been limited just because of space. There were more than four of us, at times, crammed into a space about the size of my office. Doubt that is a problem anymore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Coleman
Re: Derrick Coleman?Growing up in Syracuse, loved Coleman and had he made one more basket in the '87 championship, Keith Smart would... I'd better stop there.
True he was a dissappointment in the NBA and surprised to see he lasted 15 seasons. Agree, based on his discipline, I don't see him recruiting and motivating young players.
Re: Derrick Coleman?Really hope this doesn't happen. I just don't think his attitude & baggage are the kind of thing we need around the program. We're dealing with quite a bit already, and I don't think he brings anything to bear that is not overridden by his negatives.

GO MUSTANGS!!!!
Re: Derrick Coleman? To quote one Derrick Coleman...Whooptydamndoo!
Re: Derrick Coleman?
I think Coach Brown knows him better than we do and if he thinks Coleman should be on his staff then I trust Coach Brown. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Derrick Coleman?might come as a surprise to some of you - but coach brown might know derrick will appeal to a certain type of recruit - and if that helps land them then who cares if he can coach.
Re: Derrick Coleman?Coleman might be able to recruit in the backyard of St. Johns, Rutgers, Seton Hall and UConn. He also played in the Big East.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Derrick Coleman?Coleman was a under achiever and whiner as a player. However, he certainly could have matured quite a bit over the years. I know I have... a little. Former college star, NBA baller, can relate to the kids and recruit like crazy I hope. Much prefer Eric Snow.
