Quit Worrying....Lucky for the team, the committee is going to look at the resume. Overall body of work. SMU has 4 quality wins, a great record with a solid RPI. They're getting in. Sucks that they lost today (they really shouldn't have) but all that loss is going to do is affect seeding, nothing else. That loss doesn't put them on the bubble, teams with far worse resumes will get in come Sunday.

Re: Quit Worrying....voice of reason. We are trained at being losers around here. Part of the culture that needs to be changed.
Re: Quit Worrying....No kidding. SMU is a good year ahead of schedule. Couldn't count the number of people that were "hoping" to make the NIT at the beginning of the year. They're in and even if they lose in the opening round, it's a bright future.
Pony up!
Re: Quit Worrying....
They will. The play-in game is the last 4 at-large teams that get births. No automatics and nobody that isn't considered last 4 into the tournament. Rebel-There's been more than enough people wondering if the team will get in or saying the season is a waste. To say the team/season is a waste is absolute bullshyt. This is the best basketball season the team has had in 20 plus years. And they just played with the big boys and held their own with Louisville, Cinci, & UConn. To say they're not going to show up to Moody on Sunday for the selection because of this loss is ridiculous. The team is legitimately built for a deep run in the tournament. To say the season is a waste makes it sound like the team is a disappointment, when the truth of the matter is there were maybe 3 people on the entire board at the beginning of the year that even thought the team would sniff the tournament. So to those people, save it, you sound ridiculous. Quite honestly, not to put a positive spin on an awful exit, but it is good that Markus can get some rest on that ankle...playing back-to-back-back days possibly would not have done him any favors come next Thursday or Friday.
Re: Quit Worrying....
No [deleted], when did SMU become Duke overnight? The program hasn't even had a tourney appearance in 20 years and all of a sudden this is a major disappointment. And people can point to the last 3 games, but two of the three were freaking Louisville and AT Memphis. Hardly easy wins for any team. Hell, Florida could've lost two out of those three.
Re: Quit Worrying....As someone said, we are playing on house money - but, I'm really disgusted with our play today. If this doesn't get their attention nothing will. Larry needs to bring in a good shrink for a couple of them, now. However, in the end, I really love this team. PonyUp!
Re: Quit Worrying....
It is disappointing to end the season the way they did. But at the same time, I think most understand it's still a dangerous team that can play as well as anyone at given times as has been evidenced throughout the year. Either way, one and done or a Final Four run, the season is still a success and something to build off. Just having tournament experience will do wonders for the guys next year on a team that returns every key piece essentially.
Re: Quit Worrying....
Correct. Just got a better seed as well.
Re: Quit Worrying....My take:
GREAT year! WELL ahead of my expectations. Now we will be well rested for the tourney and maybe we'll catch a team or 2 sucking wind from a long conf tourney grind. I will be less "forgiving" next year, however, although we should all temper our expectations that we will all of a sudden be a final four team with Mudiay. Kid's special no doubt, but you just never know with these 18-22 year olds. ![]() We are on the right path no doubt. However, as LB has said, this team has to understand (this PROGRAM really . . . in fact, ALL of SMU's athletic programs) what a championship mentality is which is you relish adversity and ALWAYS play with a sense of urgency and chip on your shoulder (BTW, where was Nick Russell today?). Houston, for a 3rd time, was a tough match up for us, and I STILL don't get the limited minutes of Yanick but whatever. Now go win a tourney game!
Re: Quit Worrying....If Nic can control his emotions and make smarter passes we will play well next week.

Re: Quit Worrying....
I'm not worried about their seeding. I'm not worried about LB or the program overall either. Great days ahead next year. But the pattern here shows that they are fading for various reasons. And of course it is at the worst time. With the seeming play of this team...knowing they can play so much better...but not...I wouldn't expect them to go far. Of course, they may surprise. That is what has been so fun this season. But expectation for going far is over. Great season.
Re: Quit Worrying....You guys are going to be fine, and especially since the bubble teams are dropping like flies today. Arkansas (who had a head-to-head win) drops to South Carolina, Georgetown loses to DePaul last night, BYU's best player tore his ACL and they lost to Zaga, Seton Hall taking down Nova prevents Providence from getting another quality win, and the mid-majors like Green Bay, Southern Miss, etc all have bad at-large profiles. SMU is in for sure.
Re: Quit Worrying....
I hope you guys beat Louisville in the final, assuming it plays out that way. Keep the championship in the AAC. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
