Edit: Sad story, but glad to hear it's not the same man.

FALSE REPORT-(at a loss of words at this gut punch. He was always a hard working, dependable, team-first kid who was one of the best representatives of the university the basketball program has had)

Body found in shallow grave in Queens

http://nypost.com/2014/03/24/former-net ... low-grave/

Cops are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found buried in a shallow grave on the Far Rockaway beach Monday morning.

Initial reports that the victim is former Nets basketball player Quinton Ross are incorrect, police said.

The victim, also named Quinton Ross was stuffed into a trash bag that was hidden in a patch of weeds midway between the water and the boardwalk at Beach 40th Street, cops said.

A law-enforcement source said he had been reported missing to the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica, Queens, on Thursday.

Ross’ aunt, with whom he’s been living recently, said her mother “saw these men chasing him” before he disappeared.

“People have been calling for Quinton asking about a car or getting some money, but I tell them he doesn’t live here,” Stachia Jacobs of Far Rockaway said near the crime scene.

“Why did they bury him? What could he have done? Those bastards!” she wailed.

Ross’ mom’s fiance said cops located his body by tracking his cell phone and identified him through his clothing.

“It looks like he was murdered and buried in a shallow grave,” said Noel Moses, 61.

It’s unclear if there were any signs of trauma on Ross’ body. Cops said the disposal of his body raised suspicions of foul play, and were awaiting autopsy results from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Q was one of the nicest, most humble guys you could ever meet. Very tough to understand this.

So sad to hear. I'll remember his days as a pony, hearing "2 for the Q!" whenever he scored, how we wrote "now or never" on his shoes his senior year at the WAC tournament, and he seemed to be a solid baller with a humble attitude.

Feel terribly for his family.

Hopefully, a false identification

Seems to be conflicting reports on whether or not it was the basketball player, or just someone who shared the same name.

I feel bad for the family of whoever was left in a shallow grave, but I am glad to hear that it's not the same Quinton Ross.

Wait, what? I think they incorrectly assumed it was SMU's Quinton Ross. They said the victims name is Quinton Ross too. But I think its a different person.
