Whatever you do, don't blame the officiating

Postby East Coast Mustang » Thu Mar 19, 2015 4:44 pm

We got all the calls for 39:49 of that game. We shot 60% from the FT line and gave the ball away on an inexcusable turnover at the end. That game should have over and we blew it. Sucks and I hate it for the seniors, but that's life in the tourney

Yep. Plain and simple, SMU had complete control of the game and gave it away.

Yep. 66 teams lose when there is promise of a next game. It's painful, but you just start focusing on next year.

refs were good all day, but that doesn't mean they made the right call there. Its an impossible job. should have been reviewable in the last 2 minutes.

Agreed (although they still should have reviewed it ... THAT's what just has me crazy).

Even with all that, Nic still got 2 good looks at the end.

Proud of our guys for the run in the second half.

Next year, we will have a better tourney roster IF everyone stays (more guards/shooters and athletes). LOVE Ryan and Cannen for what they've done for this program (and love Yanick). But I think we are better next year. Call me crazy. BUT we need MK and Nic back.

Beg to differ that we got all the calls. Not blaming the refs on this. Just a little confused as a result of that call exactly what defines a goaltend. That is all. Thanks.

Ask the rule committee. I have no idea.

You know, I'm okay with putting some blame on the officiating when the refs literally hand the other team the lead on a missed shot, with 11 seconds left in the game, by granting them 3 points on a complete air ball. That's about as ridiculous—and as direct of an effect on the final outcome of the game—as you can get.

It's not the only reason we lost, by any stretch, but if we have two more points at the end of the game and the refs just give them three, that's on them. And that's exactly what happened.

I'm unhappy for the team and especially the seniors, but it has been a great season and thanks to everyone involved with the team. Thanks also to the past players and others seen at Kuby's today.

Another memory of mine from when I was in school [deleted] sixty years ago was SMU loosing a SWC game to A&M on a goal tending call where it looked like the SMU player was up for a rebound and got tagged. I don't know that shot at Moody would have gone in either.

Maybe Arkpony or a former player can confirm or correct that statement.
