Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot Clock"Our game is ugly right now," SMU coach Larry Brown said before last season."I think our game will get uglier with a shorter clock."
NCAA meets Tuesday to consider changes in shot clock http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/ ... mitte.html "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockIt will definitely speed the offense up but good defenses will make the adjustments. Really not sure the shortened shot clock will help with what it is intended to fix...lack of offense and points scored. I don't remember when the shot clock came into existence in college ball. Was it in effect when Houston, SMU, Arkansas and others were scoring over 100 points on a regular basis back in the 70's?

Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockI'm all for it too. Some College basketball rules feel like they're from the stone age. Right now sometimes it's pass-pass-pass-pass-pass until there's 10 seconds on the clock and then someone finally drives to the basket.

Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockThe worst rule is the ticky tack fouls they call every 10s. Go back to old school rules and the game will flow better.
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockI figure it would benefit a team like ours that plays such strong D. How many possessions last year did we force them to runt he shot clock down to a couple seconds? Seems like shortening it to 30 would be beneficial.

And then the other team would hit a open 3 Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockI for one like the current shot clock. I cannot stand the Pro style. Just my opinion
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockIt's the ticky tack fouls
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockIf it was up to Larry, there wouldn't be a three point line either. Of course he's against the shot clock moving to 30.

Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockI want whatever LB wants. When he leaves, I want whatever the new coach wants.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockI'm for a shorter clock but not too short. Unlike in the pros, college has too much disparity between teams for 24 seconds to work. If you go to 24, elite defensive teams will destroy everything in their path
Re: Larry Brown Against Shortening NCAA Shot ClockI thought I remember Coach Brown saying that he would not mind seeing it shortened to 30 seconds last year. The women even have 30 second clocks now. Good defensive teams like our will take advantage of not having to hold teams as long of a time period. Can't wait for the season to start.
