Re: I Love the New Keith Frazier
Yeah, but SMU is kind of stupid. It takes it 30 years to even see the light.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierStupid school or not too bright players?
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierOnly if they come in knowing how to play the right way. Otherwise, at least a year to develop.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierA couple of things. First, I have no doubt that Coach Brown has been down the court often enough that he has a fine sense of players who might be at risk on account of the academics and with regard for the academic rules explained to him when he came to SMU. Sometimes you roll the dice. Maybe that happened with MK and KF, but there is nothing official yet in the latter case and maybe there won't be, but please note, that is what others are saying and not me. Like some one else said we have had had KF longer than expected.
Second, IIRC Coach was quoted on this board as telling some recruits, "Listen to me and you have a chance to be in the NBA someday." Certainly he has the resume to say that and be credible. Whatever the facts about KF turn out to be IMO he is an example of that approach to recruiting, whether or not Brown told Frazier that or not. If I were a kid in HS and he said that to me I'd listen. Again, that has been said on this board . I'm glad coach Brown is here and hope he stays longer. I would not speculate about his goals but hope he can reach them at SMU. If not, I wish him well. There is probably no living SMU coach I'd rather meet. Aside from his ability in the gym he has to be among the best coaches so far as being a good representative for SMU is concerned. I think some opposing players must realize it is pretty neat to shake hands with him after a game. Likewise I am glad that MK and KF have been at SMU and hope to see more of them. But I hope they reach their goals also and if that is professional play after an abbreviated college experience, so be it. That has also been said above. I would say much the same about JM but add that if lack of playing time after an injury is the reason for his departure it was probably important to get MK ready for the conference. When all is said and done still another point has been made before. An admission is not a guarantee of eligibility or a place on the team of time in the game/ Finally, if academics is the key it didn't start with players on the current team. I was in school when a highly regarded BB player from the Dallas HS where Doc Hayes had coached before he came to SMU came in at mid term and lasted one semester. You could go back and reread the comments about that situation. Unlike several on the current squad who appear to have a professional future I don't remember ever hearing of that 1950's player again. Go Ponies.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierNoooooooo! This sucks. Does anyone doubt Billy's source? I don't.
I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierIt is what it is. SMU athletics suck and always will. Now figuring out if MC will see a dime of my money.
Re: I Love the New Keith Frazier
It's embarrassing that we don't have a system in place to prevent our athletes from falling behind academically. I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierRGT doesn't get it.
Get him out of here. BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierWhat is amazing is KF did not need to increase any GPA. Just needed to hold. How does anyone let it slide?
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierCan we please BOO the [deleted] out of RGT any other time he shows his face on any jumbotron
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierWhy should we be contributing money to an AD that is incompetent? How is there no system in place to support athletes academically? Especially after what happened to Markus, a system should have been immediately implemented.
I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: I Love the New Keith Frazier
Not just contribute but increase contributions.
Re: I Love the New Keith FrazierThis is amazing. It is beyond amazing. We get a little momentum and we send a message to the HS basketball community like this?
