So it's official now?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: So it's official now? There are all kinds of different situations however we don't really know any facts about anything at this point. To me it looks like MK and KF are seemingly good kids and at least stay out of trouble. That being said, if their only crime is sucking at school then SMU is somewhat to blame for that.
Re: So it's official now?TCU has had about 5-6 starting football players flunk out in the last 5 years-and I'm not talking about kids involved in the drug/criminal investigations. Its so bad they are on an APR cliff

Re: So it's official now?
That's bullsh. We knew Markus was an issue at smu. Not sure why this has to be so nebulous, at least behind paywall
Re: So it's official now?Not having all the facts this is pure speculation. And academic issue rest at SMU. THe NCAA has no investigative authority with the issue at the DISD and Kimbell. The Ncaa is total at the mercy of any official investigation and any information that is made public. Since the DISD and Kimbell investigation is ongoing, one would suspect the NCAA has as little infomration as we here on PF have.
That said, the NCAA has made significant dicispline decisions in the past wth nothing more than speculation (Robert Parrish at Centenary College comes to mind). One would hope if this is a SMU issue, that SMU steps up and does all it can to help Keith in academics and become eligible for next season.
Re: So it's official now?
Is this a joke? This sounds like the butthurt parents of a student who doesn't do his due deligience at school and would rather blame the teachers than themselves. TONS of SMU athletes without these issues.

+ 1 !!!!
Re: So it's official now?
My only mistake in that post is that I weighed in without all the facts--and apparently we will probably never get them. I agree that personal responsibility is paramount. However, I think when the school thinks that they are somehow increasing their academic integrity by beating up on athletes, you will probably see less quality athletes going to your school. There are some seriously stupid college athletes that are allowed to play and that are not ineligible due to academics--just wondering how that can happen. Some of this just makes me think that professors are making examples out of some of these players. (Sweet job on spelling diligence--did you graduate from SMU? You should be on academic probation from this message board.)
Re: So it's official now?Based on the latest report on ESPN.com it is pretty clear to me that the SMU administration is not to blame and it is fairly evident that Keith has the SMU GPA to be eligible but is having to sit out because of his HS transcript. Once again, the NCAA is out to get SMU while delaying investigations at traditional powerhouses.
