Doherty wears the suit well as the face of the program, he has sucked up to several key big donors and we may have a hard time ridding ourselves of him. I would not be suprised if a two year extension is announced here shortly.

Either extend him or can him ASAP!!! The last 3 games have to raise doubts in the minds of Loyd and the other pg's we are after and we need to quell the speculation by reaffirming our commitment to Doherty or make a swift move tomorrow!

That is what it boils down to, you cannot let him enter into his final year of the contract. I am leaning towards canning him and starting over, but if Orsini is not willing to do that, we have to bite the bullet and extend him. I can hear it now "most wins in C-USA history", wins over Memphis and Houston for the first time, several other close calls, great recruiting class....

makes me vomit, but I think he gets extended.

That is sad that that guy can't see the obvious. I guess he wasn't in the stands much this year.

Right or wrong, it is what it is, the guys who pay the bills, love football, passing interest in basketball and think Doh is a helluva guy that will eventually get the job done.

Maybe he doesn't see the value in making a move right now. Can't say I disagree with him if that is his logic.

I just don't see them getting rid of him unless there is so much heat that they have to. The question is, do that many boosters even care? Don't most of the big boys only care about the pigskin?

This is a valid point. Make no mistake, there are many of the big donor's that like the Doherty image as our basketball headcoach, he is notable, well spoken, an engaging character who has the skins on the wall and stories to go with them. He fits the SMU 'elitist' mode. I think a lot of the donors are fine with a losing basketball team with Doh at the helm because they can go to the W with him and look cool at the bar.

Ridiculous, the big donors go to Milos.

Whole thing is just so depressing, we should be feeling good right now, ready to wake up in the morning knowing we have a nationally televised game against a top 25 opponent, instead I sit here drinking my last bud light wishing we could have a do over.

THANKS MATT!

I woke up as mad as I went to bed
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

They just need to ask themselves "what is best for SMU?" and not "what is best for my friendship with Doherty - a nice guy who has our program stuck in neutral?" We don't need "pro Doh"; we need pro SMU.

if what RGV is saying is true, that is a major mistake by our AD. You did not have to give away the house to get Doh to leave Florida Freakin Atlantic. Give me a break. Poor caddying.

HUGE mistake if what is said is true. If he knows his job is secure -- maybe that is why he's said the things he has said in the media. Some of that you don't say - "it takes time, systems, etc".
Orsini is an idiot if this is correct.

hey don't make me the fall guy. I was regurgitating what BDE said that someone else said. That Doh said. And wouldnt surprise me one bit...it makes some of those 'it takes time' comments make sense. As in S.O. tells Doh, "what the f am I gonna tell people when they find out you have 3 more years after 14-10-9-14? Cmon...make something up about it taking time etc"

Somewhere there is a blog or something from Doh where he talked about it 'taking time', and he cited some examples. If I recall correctly, he said year 3 wouldve been the year with progress, and year 4 we're kicking [deleted]

I believe an ESPNDallas (or perhaps it was DMN) article earlier this year said something about Doh having a 7 year contract.
