Hoopmanx, I agree with you Balatros Diabolus Ex's synopsis is better. I was reacting to your use of the word "ton". I do agree that over the period of the season, could the coaching have been better during certain situations? Sure. For instance, BDE brought up the Houston game. He pointed out that Houston came out shooting on all cylinders after half to mount their comeback. Coach Brown, could have, and should have, used a time out to remind his team on what he wanted them to do. That is just one example. I am sure there are others as to date. I just don't see a real need to nick pick an obviously competent and long-time coach over such things as this. Every coach, good and bad, is "out coached" at times. Comes with the territory.

One thing I'd like to point out. Film tells you some things, but until you see the other team in person, you don't really know what to expect. Further, while there is nothing much new under the sun, coaches game plan based on what to expect from watching film. If a coach comes out with a different game plan, adjustments may be difficult to accomplish on the fly especially below the professional level. So, part of this year is a bit of a learning curve for LB as well. He is getting to know the other coaches in the conference and what they do. Part of the fun in these conferences that have larger than life coaches, who have been there for ages, is that they know what the other guy is going to do before he does it because they've faced each other a dozen times before. That's why Maryland might have upset Duke this year. Turgeon and K have very little history. And the other night you could say that Turgeon outcoached K. Whereas, UNC got pummelled by Duke because their coaches have a history and UNC had no surprises for the Blue Devils. By the way, anyone doubt that Jim Laranega can coach?

Its not nitpicking its the reality of this season. Great coaches at times aren't great. When Tark went to the Spurs, the man didnt know the NBA had 20 second timeouts. LB looks unprepared vs the press and zones. I love Brown/staff, but this season was disappointing for 2 reasons. First, we didn't have to be this bad, and we didn't have to cut so many folks to open rides. We opened more than we needed, missed on guys we thought were locks, and then proceeded to overcompensate w/ridiculous signings like Dickerson. Second, in every single presser, Brown pretends like this year doesn't even count. Its a bad look, at least for one season

As for recruiting, I direct you to ESPN/Dave Teleps new top 40 national classes for '13. No SMU, but TCU pops up. Do I think that's a joke? YUP. Do we compare favorably to our competition though , not really. Of course, we jump into the 20s w/Frazier, so we'll see.

LB has an NBA ring and an NCAA ring. College coaching is also full of twists and turns especially in hoops with the one and dones, and the divas, and the "agents". The recruiting game has changed since LB coached KU. If he can put a team like the Pistons team that he coached on the floor, nasty, tough and winners, I'll take it.

I agree with HoopmanX that hearing LB discount the entire season is not what I, the paying customer, wants to hear. It started well but the season is a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. Wrong side of a lot of tight games.

We don't have any one on this team that can even come close to breaking a press and distribute the ball to anyone on the wing or inside in an effective maner and we all know it....we have no point guard and that is the catalyst of any offense. End of story...wait until next year.
Ryan tries all he can but he is not at all effective in pg duties

Agreed, I'm surprised Ryan hasn't distributed better. He's had a very good year, but he's not natural at PG in the way I was hoping he would be. He'll be valuable as a jack of all trades athlete
