Maybe. And the only thing you have to do to demonstrate the flaw is name a better coach who would come here under present circumstances.

OU has already indicated they'd like to have Gillespie. Byrne said they could talk to him, but that he would meet with Gillespie first (obviously). It's the ol' "if they offer you $2 mil., we'll pay you $1 more."

the guy I know he is smitten with is Doug Wojcik at Tulsa. What makes him better than tubbs in his eyes is anybody's guess. I'm not saying Wojcik was a bad hire for Tulsa, just that Tubbs was a better hire for us. Nothing that Wojcik has done or Tubbs hasnt done has changed the fact that Tubbs has a better chance to recruit and succeed here than Wojcik would have. Wojcik would have been another Dement clone. Try something different. You might not be happy with the season, but there is plenty of hope for better days under Tubbs.

Well, see, here's the rub. Wojcik is successful and (presumably) happy at Tulsa and would not come here to replace Tubbs NOW. Blogster says we can do better than Tubbs, NOW, so the question remains, with whom?

OU should get Scott Sutton from ORU. Bedlam would be interesting with Scott and Sean going head-to-head.
If OU doesnt get Sutton, he's my suggestion for a "better coach who would come here under present circumstances".... Maybe...

I sure hope so.
Great minds think alike. I would drive him to the interview.
Can I ride in the backseat?

There were discussions that Sean Sutton was interested in the SMU position before the changing of the guard was discussed a while back.

What happened to my long, long post? I don't think I said anything offensive. Did it get deleted or am I having connectivity issues?

Some guy on FSN just stated a possible consideration for the Creighton coach who is friends with Stoops, Crean from Marquette (has been in the NIT or tourney almost every year as an assistant or coach), and Tubby Smith (total longshot)

Why would Tubby leave Kentucky?

No idea but it certainly would be a lot cushier than being hammered by the media, fans at UK every year.

I don't live in Dallas anymore, so I don't know how the DMN covered SMU's hiring of Tubbs and IU's hiring of Sampson, but I'm willing to make a bet which one get better play...
Just my two cents.

OK, you don't like the DMN. Easy way to deal with it: go to PonyFans.com every day. They link up relevant DMN stories every day, and then you don't have to read the crap about the Horns and the Cowboys and the Rangers.
