It's time to talk about replacements. Someone mentioned Rob Evans (former Arizona St. and Ole Miss) coach in another thread, and I think he'd be an excellent candidate. He had success in in big time conferences. He played college ball in Texas at Lubbock Christian and has more than one connection to Turner (Ole Miss and LCU). Also, he recruited Ike Diogu right out of our own backyard so he has some demonstrable recruiting ties to the area. Moreover, he's black so the bs allegations that race might have played a role in Tubbs' dismissal would be quelled. While this post is based on nothing more than speculation, Evans is my top choice. I like the Cremins and Franchilla ideas as well. In my opinion, we need a guy with head coaching experience and a track record of taking teams to the NCAA tournament. With the talent pool in Dallas, a charismatic coach could make us a decent program very quickly.

After all, Davis reportedly was the reason Darrell Arthur even considered going to Bloomington.

hmmm.....more Tubbs being fired rumors?

I don't think this is Orsini's call, there were insider reports that were coming out before they even began to talk about Copeland retiring that Tubbs wouldn't be around next year, because the violations were more than what de minimus. You are right though, Orsini is going to have a public relations nightmare with the Dallas community over this.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

laughable. If we are firing tubbs over laundry detergent, Quinny the Pooh would never last at SMU. He had a few incidents at Mizzou that you may have heard about.

Where are the tubbs haters gathering to celebrate today?

In other words, 'asked to leave'.

Well...some things on the Hilltop just don't change, do they?

Candidate suggestion: Bob Marlin from Sam Houston State.

Seriously, I think Mike Davis would be great, I just don't know if we are in his league.

in fact Dave Bliss is AVAILIABLE-he quit his CBA gig in North Dakota or wherever. Those without sense of humor-keep it to yourself.

As long as we know you're kidding!

How about your man Kelvin Lewis (is that his name?) - the former SMU star who just got hired as an assistant at Houston? Is he head coach material? I know nothing about the guy.

No kidding, I'll bet friarwolf will be leading the parade down Bishop Boulevard tomorrow....

I guess we will find out the answer to my question about who can come in now and do a better job than Tubbs. I suspect it's "nobody"-we'll probably attact a spare coach who just doesn't do any worse.

Cowlishaw, from the DMN sports blog:

"...Lots of buzz here about the cup of laundry detergent SMU coach Jimmy Tubbs is alleged to have given center Bamba Fall. You wonder how long it will be before this thing leads to Gov. Rick Perry."

Touche'.
