Think the Rod Flemings deal might have anything to do with it?
As posted by osu9400 awhile back:
"lots of speculation surrounding this deal... The Suttons wanted Rod to redshirt this year but his momma didn't agree. Obviously we didn't have a typical year and rarely had a comfortable enough lead to secure quality PT for him. Momma wasn't happy and she was VERY vocal in Dallas last week telling people that he had standing offers from SMU and UNT to transfer. Can someone speak to the legality of a school making offers to an athlete at another school? If it is illegal, then I doubt SMU would do this."

The DISD coaches are correct. This has set back SMU for another 10 years. Instead of sixth or seventh place in the conference we will be last or maybe even eight place. Instead of two hundred people watching a game we will have one hundred and fifty. The Kimball coach's quote about his player picking ASU over SMU says it all...SMU did not seem serious about basketball. You think? No upgrade of facilities. Hiring a coach and only giving him a four year deal instead of the standard five year deal. Failure to implement admission policies that are the same as our competition. SMU is an absolute embarressment in athletics. It is a disgrace what is going on. At least Copeland is gone. What a stellar career he had here. F him for his performance here. And F Turner for keeping him so long. For that matter F eveyone. I am pissed.

The SMU fan who wants to know why the basketball coach was canned on allegations of burgers and detergent does.

Weren't the only allegations against Steve Malin that could be proved involve meal/burger money and pickup basketball games?
Long live Thomas Sowell!

This will only ultimately make the basketball program worse at SMU because of the Tubbs firing.
Who is going to bring in recruits now?
SMU is going to lose a few late signings now because of this now.
A new head coach will not be able to adapt to the program in dier need of help so soon.
It is hard to believe the Tubbs firing positively effects the Basketball Program.

Which facility in South Dallas is nicer than Moody? Please tell me.

The facility debate is pretty worn out ..and we have quite an uphill battle now. Ellis Field house has a better court, lighting, (probably lockerrooms) and scoreboard than Moody. It holds 7500 people.

Are you kidding? If y'all are gonna make arguments like this one, I can see why you want to keep Tubbs.

Morgan and the freshman JUCO have both expressed interest in SMU for some time. Neither was highly recruited or had top recruiting offers last fall. Morgan had a great senior season in helping Darrell Arthur win the state Championship which spawned a lot of interest this spring although I'm not sure about how many really great OFFERS he has-just not enough information but there were reports that he was going to visit Michigan-not sure if that came to pass. Spates is an inconsistent freshman JUCO playing at a low level JUCO with about the same stats as Ofoegu as a JUCO freshman -13 points per game and 6 rebounds-he runs hot and cold. He's no superstar recruit but he's got a couple of offers.

Thanks, Stallion. I really appreciate you looking that up.

I didn't look it up-but now I have. Morgan(6-7, 210) had only some minor offers in the Fall from Louisiana Tech, A&M-Corpus Christi and Western Illinois. In the Spring he has heard from Michigan and UNLV but no offers from those schools reported although there has been no recent reports in the last two months after his very successful Senior Season-so its possible he became a late hot shot recruit. But he only averaged 13.3 ppg and a nice 9.4 rpg at 4A SOC but of course he played second fiddle to Arthur. Morgan scored 15 points in the 4A Championship Game. In the preseason rankings by TexasHoops.com(Rivals) he was ranked as the No. 39 player in Texas-he probably has climbed a little since then.
Spates (6-8, 215) is a graduate of Dallas Hillcrest and got little if any offers out of high school. Ranked only as the No. 120th best player in Texas as a high school senior. His exact numbers this year as a first year at Collin County CC are 13.6 ppg and 7.8 rpg. He's had a couple of monster games in both points and rebounds followed by games where he has disappered. His offers in the fall Sam Houston St and at least in the fall from UTEP. He made a visit in January to Texas Tech but apparently no offer. In the spring he has been receiving "interest" from SMU, UNLV, Stephen F. Austin and UTSA.
Rivals now lists visits to SMU on 4/7 for Morgan and 4/8 for Spates. Good Timing.

If one were cynical, you could say "convenient" timing. Right now, I believe nothing from nobody no how.
