There is the rub, the media was NOT informed of additional more serious previously unreported NCAA violations.

Clarification: SMU's investigation has concluded. The NCAA investigation is ongoing. I can imagine a situation where SMU found sufficient evidence to fire Tubbs -- and went ahead and did so -- in advance of the NCAA findings. It might even help alleviate potential NCAA sanctions.

I'm remaining Switzerland on this thing until we get more info. No doubt it's a tragic end to Jimmy's time here on the Hilltop whether he deserved the sacking or not.
