He who has the gold makes the rules....

And if we had a few wealthy alumni who wanted to pony up the donation money to bring in a big name coach like a Nolan Richardson or someone of his calibur I would be all for it.

Well, instead, you got one who sets up a coach for a fall and then drops dime on him and gets him fired. How about that for a good alum? SMU will be better off without Max Williams. I personally intend to boo loudly every time Matt Williams touches the ball in warm-ups at SMU. Guilty by blood, I say...

and I intend to sit behind you and kick the back of your seat everytime you do, i mean, you are willing to steal somebody else's seats, so you are probably doing tons of other unethical stuff as well.....give me a break

I seriously doubt someone who loves SMU like Williams apparently does, and Denny Holman apparently does, would try to take us down.

All you guys who think you've got it all figured out, and are spouting all this crap that will make it very difficult to hire a good coach, need to back off and shut up until the NCAA is done.

(I have never met either Willams or Holman.)
Someday soon Max will realize how he has disgraced his alma mater. I hope that makes him ashamed and very sad, that is worse than anything anybody can do to him with a ban or anything else. Max became too involved with his son's career. All parents and I guess grandparents can fall into that trap. Max fell in, dragged the rest of us with him and disgraced SMU for a long time.
Oh, my gosh. Let's slash our wrists, shall we?

oh, good, they love SMU. I can buy that. I feel so much better now. Maybe they are just incredibly stupid or self-serving. Maybe they think its still 1962. Whatever the case, Max should be embarrassed about what he has done.

Hoop, not sure if you follow college sports other than SMU or if you are just a Mustang fan but this is the way things work. Wealthy alums DO have a great influence over who is hired and fired at schools. When you see a football coach from big time program X get fired for a losing season 1 year removed from a bowl game who do you think it is that put the pressure on that? Wealthy alums.

It is very possible that Max did not think Tubbs was a good coach, approached Turner and said hey can him and bring in _____ and youve got $x,xxx, xxx donation from me. How is that a disgrace? College sports is a business and its a business that demands winning. I don't know what the case was or if we will ever find out but I won't say I hate Max Williams and I certainly won't blame Matt who NOT ONE OF YOU has ANY evidence he did ANYTHING wrong. Its ridiculous to blindly rip him unless you have some sort of first hand info. I for one have not seen even a mere quote from the kid.

Tubbs is gone, SMU is going to move forward and hopefully improve. Get over it. I will just have to live forever knowing and regretting how many amazing DISD recruits this cost us and how are RPI might sink a few more spots lower in the bottom 1/3 of D1 college hoops for a couple of seasons while we rebuild. Boy being ranked 260 something next year as opposed to 240 something this year is really going to send me into a depression.

Good luck with that...they will probably just ask you to move to your actual seats.

Not that it is exactly on topic, but I have never met a lawyer wannabee. You are either a lawyer, or you don't wannabee one.

Everyone knows that, but do they usually try to entice the coach to break a minor rule and then pressure the school to start an investigation?
