Why would she come to a school where burger snd Cheer will get you canned by a booster who is the de facto AD? She's got a much better gig than that now.

you're not waiting for me to disagree with that are you? What are we doing at SMU? I just got a message from an ex co-worker wanting to go to lunch today. Guy has no affililation to SMU but has been to games in the past. His comment to me, completely unprovoked, was that it sure seems like something stinks on the Hilltop. This guy gets his info from the paper and his reaction is typical of what the whole world thinks of us. Same ole SMU is what they are saying. None of them are going check back at some later date and change their perception. SMU blew it.

Now you're catching on. A bold move is needed. Not more of the same. We need something truly shocking. This calls for something truly desperate and pathetic. And we're just the school to do it. Where's Bluto when you need him?
So far, the names I've seen would probably not arouse a lot of interest by the local media. You'd hear crickets chirping at the press conference.
You're forgetting Nolan Richardson's been (unofficially) suggested here. Now there's a media magnet.

Actually, a better question is why would she ever consider taking such a step down? Why would she take a drastic cut in pay (she makes 3 times what we were paying Tubbs) to leave a school that just named their basketball court after her (Summitt Court, capacity just under 25,000 seats) and has a rabid fan base (Lady Vols average over 15,000 fans per game, 5 times what the SMU men draw) to come here, where her team will have fewer nationally televised games, and recieve a fraction of the media coverage she gets now? The Lady Vols will return 4 starters from this seasons 31-5 team, including Candace Parker, they'll be national title contenders again next year. Would she give that up to take over a program that seems to be in dissarray? I dont think Pat has much interest in coaching a mens team, and there's no way in Hell she'd ever consider coming here.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

This thread is considering a female coach that can win, recruit and provide a media blitz?
How about Rhonda? Just promote her to men's head bb coach. She has passion for SMU, has been able to recruit to the facilities we have and has won in the past. This year wasn't her best, but she has a lot of freshmen and soph's on the roster.
Plus, the band already knows "Help Me Rhonda".
Just send 'da money.

I don't know if any highschool hoopsters would want to come play for a woman but PLEASE tell me you were joking in suggesting Rhonda. It would be one thing to bring in Summitt but comparing Rhonda to Pat would be like comparing Dement to Dean Smith.
If this was genuinely a joke and I missed it, sorry for the post. And in my opinion bringing in ANY female coach, even Pat, would be a terrible mistake. Please cue posts from the Tubbs faction: "NOT AS TERRIBLE A MISTAKE AS FIRING TUBBS!!!!"

Ergo, "more so."
This thread has been fun but it better die a quick death or I am going to start dropping F' Bombs to get it deleted.

Boy, its really fun to stir the pot now and then Although if we get a 95 year old former high school coach as our candidate, Pat will begin to look much better. By the way are there any coaches from foreign countries who could do a good job here? They might come not knowing how things work here at SMU.

you are using the wrong terminology, if you want to get it deleted you need to direct the thread toward the private human anatomy...maybe post a bunch of pictures of scantily clad men and women....talk about the size of the packages they are carrying.....
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?
Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
