oh well we didn't have him for most of the first half of last season.. and its not like our non conference schedule has tech on it.. as long as he is there for the conference games that is all that matters

If anyone thought we were post-season bound just because of Doherty, you are crazy.
Unfortunately as Mustang fans, we are going to once again give a new coach a chance to prove himself. In my opinion Tubbs was not given that time, but now Doherty will have to be given his time.

My concern is all the newbies coming on board, watching a few games, and then losing interest quickly.

This season is going to be ugly, there's no other way to look at it. There is no postseason to have this year. My view is that they ought to think long and hard about putting a redshirt on Bamba and let him focus on his grades and technique, and then have three more years with him to blossom into a real force. The only risk in that plan is if Bamba goes pro early. But even then, if he comes back in January, has a great year, but without any help, we lose, he goes pro, and we have no Bamba on the roster come Signing Day. This is one of those decisions that MD will have to think long and hard about.

Aren't the fears of Bamba going pro a tad premature?

Is it even possible to take redshirt year after you have played in a season?

Yes. You have five years to play four. Redshirt can be any year.

I heard on the SMU grapevine that Fall may want to leave for
the Pros after his Jr. year in school. (if he makes it that far).

Did you hear whether he expects to play again before then?

Maybe he can take Reality Check 101 while he's at it. Last I checked it takes more than a half season of ball in weak conference to feel like you are going to be ready to make the jump to the league as a Junior.

Interesting UNCONFIRMED rumor suggests that we might all owe the big fella an apology for buying the initial report that he's going to be ineligible in the fall. If that's true, it's one time I'll gladly eat a big plate of crow.
