Dirk will tell you and show you that he like the game of Bball but not so much as to FIGHT. In other words he is not a tough competitor. When it gets tough he does not step up his game.

Jet can go, Damp can go, Stack can go and DE Jenga (sp). We need a Power foraward with post moves. A BARKLEY.

A Mark Aguire type. Rough and tumble get the foul or the basket #4 Forward.

Dirk does not have "IT".

Really good player but not a leader or fighter.

Nothing like building around a soon to be 12 year veteran who, in all likelihood, is on the downside of his career.

The talk about trading Dirk is absurd. This team won 65 games in the regular season, they can play. Unfortunately we ran into a team who is coached by a guy who knew Dirk and his game since he was a teenager. A team who shot lights out couldnt miss like Baron Davis half court and his shot last night from the left wing. They shot well over 50 percent from the 3 point line. Jason Terry probably needs to go and we need to bring in someone who can run the offense and handle the ball. Golden State put 5 atheltes on the floor that were more athletic than or most athletic guy. Dirk is a not good but great basketball player and he is not even 30. You might want to look into us being outcoached. Avery did a great job but getting us ready for the playoffs he might have come up short. Dirk sure wasnt good in the playoffs but get rid of him come on.

Dirk is a 7 foot small forward. Larry Bird was a 6-9 small forward. Larry Bird had more heart in his little finger that Dirk in his whole body. Dirk is a good player but he is not a great player. Great players don't do what he did in this series. Larry Bird was a great player.

As for KG he came directly out of HS to the NBA. I guess that makes him around 30. He should have 5-6 very good years left in him and a few more good years after that. All I know is that Dallas is not going anywhere with the current team.

GS may go very deep into the playoffs.

No kidding. Why don't they just sign Mutumbo while they're at it. Maybe they can get everyone from the '96 all star game.

Dirk was not the only problem with the Mavs. As others have said, nobody played with emotion.

Avery coached like he was scared of his old boss and refused to play to his own strengths.

Nobody in a Dallas uniform was hustling for loose balls or rebounds.

When they were falling behind in the 3rd (and the same in earlier games), Terry kept giving the ball to Devean George. Are you kidding me!?!? That guy is a waste of a uniform and you think he's going to get you back into the game. What is the front office fascination with guys like George, Keith Van Horn, Sean Bradley, etc. who may have some decent skills, but do absolutely nothing to help your team WIN.

I'll tell you right now who the Mavs need, and they perhaps could've gotten too. A guy who was here before. Jason Kidd.

They need a f'in point guard. Ask coach Doh what it's like not having a point guard. Whomever said J Terry was exposed for what he is was dead on. Devin Harris has upside with his quickness, but he's never going to be a high assist man. Dirk needs a true PG to set him up. The team needs a floor general who knows through where the offense needs to go, and one who will not turn the ball over.

Ask Stoudamire and Marion (oh, and Dirk from a few years ago) what it's like to play with an excellent point guard.

Oh, and I don't really like Jason Kidd. But that's who the Mavs should've gotten.

You're joking right? They did not shoot anywhere near 50%.

Game 1: 10-30
Game 2: 4-20
Game 3: 6-23
Game 4: 12-31
Game 5: 16-35
Game 6: 14-30

They didn't even break 50% once.

Nellie knows how to play Dirk obviously - I was just surprised how cowardly he was and the comments he made in the media. He was a little pansy. He didnt want the ball when it mattered.

Terry didn't show up. It was just weird all together - no heart, no guts, no hustle.

No way does GS shoot 50% from 3 point range in the next series...if they do, I'd be very, very surprised. Jackson hit 5 or 6 in a row. With that shooting, they would compete with most teams.

This was the worst matchup that could have happened for the Mavs of almost any team aside from Phx. I was telling everyone it was going to be a problem.....they should have tried their best to beat them at the end of the season. We would have swept the Clippers. Nellie's got 5 guys who can run, jump, shoot, and are quick. Mavs have 1 athletic guy - Howard.

I know people aren't much for conspiracy theories but isn't it a little odd that the Mavs would dress their players for the last game vs the Clippers but yet fail to dress for the Warriors? If the Mavs had treated that game vs the Clippers the same way as they treated the game vs. the Warriors, I don't think this thread would be going.

wow, where do I start....

first off...trading dirk, umm NO. Although it may be one of the more awkward moments in sports when Dirk accepts his MVP trophy, he is still going to be the MVP of the league.
Whoever said Dirk's contract is untradeable, sorry but that might be the dumbest thing i've ever heard, no offense. If Juwan Howard's 25 million a year deal can be moved, I think Dirk can.
There's going to be a lot of knee-jerking going on after last night, some of it rightly so, but at the end of the day you have to realize this team won 67 games and was one of the best regular season teams of all time, it's foolish to talk about "blowing it up." I do think JET and Damp's contracts will be hard to move, if the team is considering either, Diop will not be a free agent til next year.
A BIG problem with the team was a low post presence, it doomed us in the finals, and was part of the problem this time. On most teams, your center isn't a viable option on offense (usually), leaving your power forward to do the inside scoring. Ours is Dirk, and like it or not...he's not a low post presence. Get another power forward then? We've tried that (Antoine and Antawn) and that didnt work out so well. It's a big problem.
Lastly, Dirk is atleast 3x better than Garnett, what the hell has he done in his 12 years in Minnessota???????

ESPN's Mark Stein thinks that's a very real possibility.

Sign & trade for Chauncey, maybe? I mean, if we're willing to take on Kidd's contract and those bad knees, why not outbid Detroit and spend that money on a younger point instead?

I would take Billups over Kidd. If the Mavs could swing it would you like to see either Oden or Durant come here in a blockbuster draft trade? Since the Mavs don't pick until 34 this year it would have to entail next years picks &/or current players (? Dirk).
