Well, we get the idea that they won. But I had to go dig for the score.

SMU 74
UTSA 72

Now, 10-3. Let's get CUSA play started right at Tulsa Friday. Tulsa is big but very slow.

Getting CUSA play started Friday will be impressive, since the game is Saturday afternoon.

Cobb Shoots SMU Women's Basketball Past UTSA
Severin leads Mustangs with 16 points in 10th win

Jan. 2, 2008

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (SMU) - Senior guard Katy Cobb hit a leaning jumper with 2.4 seconds left, and the SMU women's basketball team got 36 points off the bench to knock off Texas-San Antonio, 74-72, at The Convocation Center in San Antonio.

The win - SMU's fourth in six road games this year - improved the Ponies' record to 10-3 on the year, extending to 17 the team's streak of reaching double figures in every season Rhonda Rompola has been the Mustangs' head coach. UTSA lost at home for the first time this season, falling to 8-5 on the year.

Sophomore forward/post Alice Severin led the Mustangs with 16 points, two shy of her career high. Fellow sophomores Jillian Samuels and Brittany Gilliam added 12 points apiece for the Ponies. Gilliam also led the Mustangs with eight rebounds and six assists.

Cobb's dramatic game-winner was her second this season - she also hit the game-winning shot Dec. 6 in SMU's victory over Coppin (Md.) State.

The Mustangs have one more road game before returning home. SMU will play at Tulsa at 2 p.m. this Saturday in a game that can be heard on KKGM (1630 AM) before returning home to host Central Florida Jan. 11. Sounded like Alice Severin played one hell of a game. 8 of 9 shooting? Awesome job!
