I cannot stand Humble Billy Hayes. The two things he says that drive me crazy are:

1) "Twwwwoooooooo shots" (dragging out the word "two" is annoying)
2) When he tries to get the crowd chanting "Defense, Mavs fans, Defense" (he says it like he's working in a Haunted House)

Having said that, the Mavs have a game presentation that works really well. A bit over the top on occasion for the rabid sports fan, but I'd rather have that than a snoozer.

I hate to say this but I do hope we get a new football PA announcer. Dan Bell has been awful the last few years and his 3rd Down Thunder tagline is the biggest arse whipping after PB's use of the swinging gate for PAT's.

That is too bad - a very cowardly way to end his association with SMU.

If that PA guy was not Renner, he's got to be Renner's brother......Whatever and whomever, it was a huge upgrade...........

I noticed there was a different fellow in charge of the mic the other night. I like the guy. He's got spunk.

I do wish Dan Bell well.

There are many elements of a Mavs game that we would do well to incorporate, starting with a quality sound system.

One element that should NOT be incorporated would be the microphone in the cylinder...can you imagine all the CLANGs we'd hear with this bunch?

funny but true.

I wish Dan Bell the best, but count me among those that though a PA announcer change was long overdue

Agreed. I appreciate Dan's service. I don't think he should have been let go by email.

One of the things I appreciate about Orsini is that he is trying very hard to upgrade all aspects of the game-time presentation. It's coming slowly (TWSS), but it needs to be done. Best wishes to Dan and a big thanks for his service on the Hilltop.

I disagree. Dan is a great announcer. Yes, BrianT, his "third down thunder" line is a whipping of the highest order, but rest assured that wasn't HIS tagline. Mustang Realty (or someone) paid the school to have that said, and when it means money in the athletic department coffers, you say what you're paid to say. It's like announcing the halftime pee-wee games .... they're a complete beating, but somebody threw some money at SMU for the right to see Little Johnny and his classmates stumble over the ball for 10 minutes, in exchange for having someone say their names on the microphone. Business side of the game, that's all.

Dan Bell is pure greatness, and I wish him all the best.

sorry I was tired of hearing names botched and mispronounced. Shouldn't happen from your PA announcer

There is NOTHING humble about that guy. Yes, I'm sure he has orders from Cuban to say certain things in certain ways, but is there anyone more in love with his own voice?

ABSOLUTELY. That is the single most unprofessional P.A. call I've ever heard. The P.A. guy's job is to inform the crowd, not serve as cheerleader. They all do it to an extent, but that crap is awful.

Um ... Go Mustangs.

If he can increase our crowd noise level from a whisper to conversational, let him stand behind the goal with a mic and a pair of pom-poms and yell his @ss off.
