The bottom line is they did not put themselves in a position to try and tie the game or win it. I could live with having everything go about as well as you can and miss the shot. But we did none of that to give ourselves any chance.

But I've see too many times at the end of games where this team doesn't know how to finish, be it timeouts to set defense, making free throws and inbounding the ball properly. You're not going to win them all. But you shouldn't be losing them all either.

Yep, we blew our chance there, when we were only down 1 point with 9 seconds, they would have been less likely to do wild hack jobs since we were so close, but with that steal, that put us in a bad position and I forgive the rest. Now whether the players just didn't execute, Nyakundi made a very bad decision, or it was poor coaching, I cannot say. Just wish we would have got that in, maybe taken a foul or two to get to center court, then have someone driving for a winning a shot at the buzzer.

I don't think some of the SMU Players have very good BB IQ. Any idiot that throws the ball to the basket trailing by 3 with 4 seconds left ought to be running laps for being a moron. Sorry but that's the truth. I don't care if there was no TOs and the play wasn't drawn out nice and pretty on the chalkboard. Accountability. Nykundi and Bambi's miscommunication-again start running some laps.

Looks to me like SMU was out of Timeouts and nobody knew what the hell to do. Hell I knew what to do in that situation when I was 8. Of course, I had played BB by then more than some of these guys have. I'm done with the Africans and Euros. I'd rather have a team of home grown Jucos who've played BB all their life than another raw foreign soccer player who has never learned the fundamentals of basketball.

I agree w/this. One or two projects is ok, especially if its a mobile big that can catch. That said, we need a few kids w/defined skill-sets and some toughness. I'd easily trade a 6'10 kid that looks good in an airport, for a 6'7 wide-body kid that gets it done in the paint.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Wow, I didn't realize how horrible the last 30 seconds was til I watched that. Total amateur hour. And why is he substituting with 2 secs left, just to watch our defenders let the UAB guy drive the sideline uncontested? And way to get the crowd even more involved because nobody knows what they are doing.

what a cluster. good thing we weren't playing in front of a packed house that would REALLY have been loud. really pathetic to not give yourself a chance in that situation. no-brainer to have your 3 pt team on the floor for a last shot with 6 seconds left...and with 4 seconds left...and those guys should all know who they are by this point in the season.

or maybe we don't practice how to close games
